Everton (H) Post Match Thread

The defence needs to improve, needs to get back to the level it was at in September/October. We've been giving away far too many chances and if we don't cut that out then it's going to kill us in the important games.

Other than that good game really. Good to see GJ get the rewards for his constant effort.

Phew. How poor were we after we scored the 3rd goal?
Delph was poor in the 2nd half and his performance was summed up by that stupid lunge at Calvin Lewis near the end, seriously the guy is a liability.....dives in and commits himself all over the pitch. We need to get a decent left back in.
On the other side we had an equally disappointing show from Walker again. Luckily, Lookman wasn't on the pitch in the 1st half.
Gundogan was very good for most of the match but caught the "let's give it away cheaply in the last 20 minutes" bug like most others.
Otamendi....good grief, not great in the 2nd half.
I thought Sane was playing quite well and not sure why he came off ahead of Mahrez?
Well done Jesus, great to have him scoring goals again and his English is coming on a treat.
Not sure what is up with Bernado the last few weeks?
A better team than Everton would have shafted us in the 2nd half.
I know this sounds overly critical and it was great to come back after last weekend with a gritty win but we made it hard for ourselves, they were not in the game at 2-0 yet we conceded, when we went 3-1 up we should have shut them out but instead, kept misplacing simple passes all over the pitch and let them in on several occasions.

Well done gabby, great to see him bag a couple.

I thought we controlled the game well after the first goal but we allowed them far too many chnances, and a better quality team might not have lost that game.

Some very average performances from our side today, Delph, Walker, Ota.....Mahrez

Onwards and upward blues...we’ve got kev the king back !!!

Bernardo looks jaded, not surprising considering he’s played pretty much every game this season. It’s a shame Guardiola still fully doesn’t trust Foden.
He is just so young and is still learning. That's all it is. I sense the frustration though - 10k appearance money would have been nice for Phil today but there was simply no break up in play at the time .

Superb victory and 3 points against a good side with some excellent players who are our bogey side.

Ferny superb but Gabby outstanding.

His work rate is unbelievable, his technique top notch and he knows how to finish despite what some of the experts on here might think, his stats prove that.

Only downer for me today was Walker whose form isn't great right now and Mahrez who needs to understand we play at a much higher tempo and he has to get with it.
This.

Special mention to Eddie for making that early brilliant save — it’s the sort of action that positively influences team play from that point forward.

There was nothing stopping Pep bringing him on 10 minutes earlier.

Other than that ok though yeah? ;-)

All I need is to get back to being solid as we were at the beginning of the season. If we keep gifting chances like today a top team will punish us. See defeat to Chelsea.
Fair point but against better opposition we would play Laporte and Stones and be more solid

Yes it does sound overly critical

First win against Everton at home for 4 years, so so happy with 3 points. Can't remember the last time we scored 3 goals at home against the blue dippers, it has been a long time coming. They always make it tough for us at home. This Everton team are a dangerous team as they showed in the 2nd half, thankfully Richarlison did not have his shooting boots on today. Thought Fernandino was immense today won vital balls in middle of park 1st half to set up chances, if he had not won these tackles Everton could have broken away, then goes and lays the 3rd goal on a plate for Sterling. Happy for Jesus to get his 2 goals, took them well and will do his confidence a world of good.

Good performance, great result, great to have Gabby back in the goals. Always fun to expose the myth that is Jordan Pickfords distribution as well.

The only concerns are just how poor Delph was at defending crosses to the back post, Walker looks knackered and Mahrez was pretty disappointing. other than that, it's great to see how comfortably we can deal with a decent side, without most of our "big" names

strong display from a tired looking team without some key players-cracking result today, chuffed for Jesus

Its great we win 3-1 when a few of our players are just going through a bit of a dip, the effort and work rate was there like always.

What a team/Squad we have.
