Everton post-match thread

The absolute nonsense I'm reading on here is beyond belief... are these really Man City fans who watched us when we were 'really' shit....More shots, more possession, blatant penalty not given and an offside goal to boot. We were unlucky tonight but I have absolute confidence we will turn them over at the Etihad, absolutely no concerns. The fact is win at home and we are through as I can't see a 3-2 for example and I certainly can't see us losing,

That said it would help if the fans actually support the team on the night.

They won't though. They'll have something more important to do. Reminds me of a great description of City's fans in the 1970s in Paul Morley's book, "Nothing" published in 2000;

"City fans are notorious for loving a good moan....they give so much to their team-if only by not supporting United - that they consider themselves licensed to lay into them when they perform below par"

And he's a blue !

Decent first leg result tonight and, I felt, a slightly improved performance. Obviously well short of title standard but enough I think to get us to Wembley.

I agree with the tippy tappy. But how many times did they beat our offside tonight.
I don't agree with the way we play it, nearly all the time. I'd much prefer our defenders
to tackle. ie fucking defend. But you're right, we've gone back to the bad ol' days of
playing way too slow.

The reason were shit at the moment is every other team works harder than us.
When we have the ball they have min 10 players behind it.
When they have it we have bout 7 which puts defence in back foot.
main culprits are sergio silva and toure
dont work hard enough without the ball
Opposite of peps vision of a team!

This is it in a nutshell. No team can play with 3 players, Silva, Yaya & De Bruyne ,who don't work as hard as the opposition without the ball. I think we will still go through but it's the manner of these defeats which is worrying. On a sidenote, John Stones looks a fantastic prospect, if we had him we would be a helluva lot stronger.

Correct, lazy cunts...one pass from the cb to midfield takes out 4 or 5 sometimes 6 city players, happens every week. Imagine that under Mancini ? Or any decent manager.
dont agree you have aguero who is not working hard enough , then yaya enough said and take mangala of for demichelis and id would run past him with a broken leg and the hand brake on.we need a quality holding midfielder another forward and some defenders.we can paper over the cracks but they will always remain.i hope we can get some of peps targets in jan.or i fear we will end up empty handed.

Its pathetic
Pep requires them to win ball back asap ala barca few years ago
if you match other team for work rate quality will then shine through

Couldnt at least get a draw against an average Everton side. Very worrying. I repeat KDB is a homer. Should still go through but its just a real grind at the moment. You never know we may just come up with one of our 4-0 or 5-0 displays...........totally unpredicatable nowadays.

That day Joe Royal gave us at Wembley 1999 was the first building block to what we have become today, without it City probably wouldn't even exist. Joe Royal in charge of this current squad would be miles better in my opinion than the manager we have now. But different eras and all. Now Jamie Pollock I agree with you. But leave big Joe alone!!
Haha I was there mate.......I'm just comparing now to then being sarcastic to all the spoilt little children on here tonight.Joe royle was great considering the tools at his dispense.

Few thoughts on tonight, Otamendi stay on your feet don't dive, last centre half who did was Sommeil, don't copy him, man up & put them on their arses.
Ok MDM should have done better with the cross but where was Willy, any centre forward going for that should have been looking for his teeth afterwards.
Yaya what was going on, looked like bamby on ice.
Tempo, FFS why do we never learn? When we play with tempo & intensity no one can live with us, tonight we started at a good pace & dominated then went into slumber mode & hey presto we fall behind. 2-1 down with their full back off & we substitute the wide man opposing him, feckin genius. Then given our advantage we put on a holding midfielder rather than Kelechi who has already scored in his 2 games in this competition.
Fortunately we have a good chance to reverse this result but we need to play to our strengths not with the hand brake on. It amazes me, it must be difficult for a team with so much talent to play so poorly so often.
