Everton post-match thread

Funnily enough in all competitions we have won 9 out of 15 games at home with a clean sheet or by more than two clear goals which incidentally would take us through to the final. If you factor in all games won it is 12 out of 15. I would suggest that indicates we have a more than even chance of going through.

Some City fans are complete and utter surrender monkeys, no faith, no loyalty to the team or players. Yeh, let's forget what these players have done for this club, picking it up off its arse and delivering us 5 trophies, where none had been seen for 25 years and during a period when even a quarter final was as rare as a nun in a bikini

Frankly these 'fans' make me sick. I actually have no idea what they must have been doing during our halcyon days in the late eighties to early two thousands.

The players must wonder why they bother for such an ungrateful bunch of fans. I still think it's a minority when you get to the ground on match day most fans are supportive, but they certainly make their voices heard on here.
This is a place to vent,so long as the match goers get behind the team it doesn't matter what is said on here
If this is all that you have in your life to make you sick then you are doing ok

Funny you say that. Heard quite a few supporters wondering out loud last night why they had fucking bothered and describing the players as ungrateful after yet another insipid performance from the players in front of fantastic support followed by most of the players fucking straight off the pitch without even acknowledging the support.

not disappointed at all, we,ll go through, jesus goal made my day
How easily our attacking players are being contained so regularly is concerning, Conservative approach is not our strong point and that's why i think our attackers are lacking the killer instinct that they are capable of, it is not helped by our poor defense, against parked buses 3 in midfield makes it all to congusted for our attackers to find spaces and play with flair

Totally agree karen. Before the internet everyone headed to the pub had some alcohol and then chewed the fat and got things off their chests.

Today with the internet, it's just easy to come on here after a few drinks, fire from the hip, I've done it myself.

But as you say the lads and lasses that go to the game always get behind the team, and what punters on here including me say doesn't mean a flying fook, and most of us have other things equally important as City going on in our lives!!

I am with you on this @coleridge.
If at the start of the season I was told that we would be where we are now, I would have ripped both of your hands off for it.

Why? Serious question.
We're second in the table. Our past five finishes have been 3rd, 1st, 2nd, 1st and 2nd. Our current position is the average of our previous five so why would you have been pulling arms off for it?
We're in the semi-final of the League Cup. Woopy fucking doo!! We've beaten relegation-threatened Sunderland, mid-table Palace at home and Hull from the Championship. So what is so amazing given the relatively easy draw? We're a top four team so why should defeating that particular group of opponents be so fantastic? Top four team reaches last four of cup - shock fucking horror.
Topping our CL group is something to be proud of though; I'll certainly admit that.
And we're still in the FA Cup; even we couldn't go out without playing a game.
But have we seriously exceeded expectations given the quality at our disposal and the benign cup draws?

It seemed churlish to post anything about Bobby Madley's performance after we were soundly beaten by Liverpool. However, this time he had even more of an influence on the Everton game. I'm well aware of our shortcomings in the performance but it wasn't too bad and had we had our stonewall penalty given we'd have got away with a draw.
Madley is an awful referee who seems to have a problem with us. The advantages he gave Liverpool at the Etihad were akin to Rugby Union in terms of length of time the advantages were allowed before pulling play back if nothing materialised. No such luxury afforded to us as a couple of advantages quickly fizzled out. Of course, I'm missing out the bleeding obvious stonewall penalty.

Did I mention the penalty?

He is a disgusting referee, makes me vomit every time I see this corrupt cheating ****, ranks alongside Foy and Walton for cheating levels.

He must have been paid very well or just very happy to appease his rag friends and colleagues!

Has to be one of the worst referees I can remember and looks like we could potentially see many years more of this corrupt cheat!

Yes I do hate this cheating ****, corrupt to the core ****!

The rags went out against middlesbrough of the championship they must be suicidal after spending 250m quid because that guarantees success...

Oh and whilst we're at it Arsenal went out to division one Sheffield weds... arsenal fans should be tearing up their season tickets..

Shocking that we got to the semi final because we always found it p*ss easy in the 80's

We are ungrateful according to blue mooner , absolute horseshit. Those poor poor players and manager-they wouldn't even fucking know we were there they way they carry on.

I was at Goodison last night and me and my pals were genuinely gobsmacked we didn't given the penalty shout for the foul on Navas. Aside from seeing the incident live I've just flicked through the highlights 15 mins ago and it was nailed on. After the contact was made kevin mirallas is caught on TV looking across at the lino looking as guilty as fuck. So whilst we are quite rightly having a pop at the corrupt twat of a ref why didn't the lino flag for it ? He could only have been 20 yards away. Like a growing number of games this season there is a shit load of frustration after last night but it's only half time and if the boys put a shift in for the second leg we are capable of getting the three goals required because I doubt we will keep a clean sheet !

It's not about where we are, it's about the performances of late which are very worrying indeed.

They saw it but didn't want to give it, end of.

In the main they have been disappointing both results wise and performance wise.

As others have said the attacking style of football means little if you cannot attack with tempo and pace and organisation and finish your chances and lose the capacity of basic defending when you don't have the ball.

MP has done a Leslie of the past and said we will improve in the second half of the season largely on the basis that he ha said that he is hopeful of a better run with injuries.

Since then we have scrapped a draw against Leicester , got over the line against Watford and been outplayed by Everton and lost VK for a third time this season and Mangala to injury.

Some have suggested our season will depend on Navas and Sagna staying fit ( as results have indicated to date supports that assertion ) both of whom he would in all likelihood not start if we had a full list of players to chose from.

Early days but he is not off to the best of second half starts and its pretty clear unless he changes tactics in particular against sides who press , are quick on the break and can retain possession in their front half for long period of time he will have his work cut out to gain a trophy in his final season as Pep or no Pep this will be his final season with us as manager.

In a year when all the main players are struggling for one reason or another and we are best placed to capitalise on it I hope our players many of whom will be not at the club when we win our next major trophy realise they owe it to themselves as much as the supporters to give him a good send off.

The rags can't score and went out on penalties and Arse fucked up.
As for the 80s I don't remember too many semi-final appearances, and the two I do remember had only one difficult draw between them; Everton away in the FA Cup quarter finals.

That is true. The only point I'd make is that misery begets misery and nonsense can become truth merely by dint on repetition. Those of us who are waiting until the end of the season to pronounce judgement on our players, manager and executives are largely staying quiet whilst the impatient and permanently dissatisfied vent their spleen on here which gives the impression that City fans as a whole are disgruntled.

Talking to your mates in the pub is usually a discussion between a few blokes who will argue divergent opinions and, generally, without getting irate and irrational about it. It may even be that, with people you know, you will become persuaded that your argument is wrong. The size of the audience here and the capacity of even the most irrational idea to garner support from someone, means that people become entrenched and circular arguments follow indefinitely. Furthermore, there are no lurking media or opposition fans in a pub discussion to fan the flames of disagreement or gleefully propagate the nonsense to a wider and largely hostile audience.

It doesn't make Bluemoon a bad place to be but it does detract from the overall enjoyment of the forum for some of us especially after a defeat.

Not really sure what your point is here, my point is that some other 'fan' said we had an easy run to the semi's I was simply pointing out that one of our rivals for the title went out against inferior opposition and another who have recently out spent us similarly went out against a lower division team.

What people forget is amongst getting through you are balancing all the other priorities so getting to a semi final is always an achievement.

You clearly missed the irony of my post Re the 80's! Obviously if it's so easy to reach a semi it's surprising how many years we failed to do so.

The sense of entitlement that has crept into our fanbase is almost unbelievable, some would say it's almost of rag esque proportions.

Wow, it's great to have such supportive fans. It will still be 4 competitions in 2 weeks and 4 competitions in 6 weeks and 4 in 12 weeks have faith. We are Manchester City we fight to the end, the Boys in Blue never give in.
It's not a case of supporters giving in. Supporters are desperate to win every game. This team has been folding at almost every single ground in the country and if we play anybody any good they beat us. Those are facts and real facts not Benitez facts

Arsenal have done really well then.

I find it really annoying and frustrating that a team with David Silva, Joe hart, Kevin De Bruyne, Sterling, Aguero, Navas etc etc comes off 2nd best to journeymen footballers week after week. We have the bets players without a doubt and are underperforming. You want the best for your team. You should never ever be satisfied and happy with the scraps on your plate.
