I'm usually more of a new world cabernet ish chap so not sure why I chose the C.de.R. Must be pre match nerves... (it's better now its had chance to breathe, perhaps I'll be the same...)

Was it just a generic Cotes Du Rhone you opened? Not even a Cotes Du Rhone Villages, never mind Cotes Du Rhone Villages AC? How very disappointing. If you are planning on sticking to the Southern Rhone but upgrading for Saturday, I'd heartily recommend a 2010 Gigondas.
Prawn sandwiches with that?
Yes please - Vacqueryas , Crozes Hermitage or of course Chateauneuf Du Pape with them!

Martinez's comments suggest Everton will play their usual against us. He's a right spoil sport is Martinez.

I reckon he will see it that if Everton beat us they won the league for Liverpool and it will give the Evertonians something to joke on about towards the Liverpool fans.

If we turn up we win, that is how I view it, there is no way Everton's incentive to get 5th place is stronger than ours is to win the title.

It would take an absolute bottle job for us to lose at Goodison in my opinion, the worst case scenario for me is a draw, I don't want to be thinking after the game what could have been.

Deja Vu time reading some of these posts on this thread

Comes down to the mentality of the players this one, we have been handed a second chance which in reality is very lucky after the points we dropped at Anfield and against Sunderland. The players need to go in thinking we're not letting it slip again, Kompany will have them fired up, Aguero will be sharp and Yaya steps up in these games.

Martinez and Pellegrini have similar approaches in their philosophy towards the game, and I expect our superior incentive and players will see us to a 2-0 win.

think we'd lose more than draw, I'd be sending Hart up on corners in the dying embers if we were drawing.

Anyone else going in the home end? Been offered one in the main stand for £50
Can't see the point of this tbh. Waste of money when you have to sit there in silence. I'd rather save my money and enjoy watching it in the pub with other blues.

Bring em on

I actually think it's the atmosphere in the ground is what will make them drop that 5% that could be the key for us.

It's going to be very bizarre, rather than extremely hostile like usual, and that will eventually filter onto the pitch.

Tough game, but if we can't grab this game by the scruff of the neck then it's our own fault, it's there for the taking!

Looks like Lawro's given up on Liverpool. The fucking turncoat.

Predicting 2 - 0 for us and 1 - 1 for Liverpool.

Don't like that - he's usually wrong! (Maybe the Dippers will get beat!)

I'd go with this (I reckon Silva will start on the bench):

--------------Hart--------------
Zaba---Kompany---Demi----Kolarov
Milner---Yaya---Fernandinho----Nasri
--------Aguero------Dzeko-------

Bring Silva on if needed

Does anybody think going with two up top could be a bit too costly?

I would go a bit more pragmatic and flood the midfield and try and grind a result out.

I hate playing Everton, they could field their academy team and still beat us.

We are pretty bid favourites to win the game.

(To those not arsed reading this essay I'll give it a summary at the bottom)

I'm sure there has been a surge of Everton fans since this fixture has sprung up such a 'unique' situation, so apologies for clogging up your board (Though I'd like to have a gander in and out of here from time to time as you seem a good bunch).

Just got to say regardless of Saturday, the very very best of luck on becoming this years champions. For a while during your takeover, the lescott and moyes stuff I did have some bitterness towards you. I'd say it was out of a bit of envy and a bit of frustration in seeing you come from below us to far and away above us in absolutely no time. But I'm sure you've heard that from other Everton fans before. Reading through this thread I've got to agree in that Moyes always had our team up for games against you, I think it was a selfish vendetta to be honest. If only he could have shown that sort of passion for games against our lovable neighbours. I'm pretty sure he once coined the phrase 'knife to a gun fight' prior to a game against yourselves. A mentality that he filtered down into the players and fans; the miserable, negative knob. I used to think the sun shined out of his arse, pulled the wool right over mine and many other blues eyes.

Anyway, enough about him. I got over that pettiness, the only way you are really going to pull up trees in this league is with serious money. It would be nice to take some high ground about doing it the 'proper way' but that way just isn't possible anymore. If we had a modern stadium maybe we'd also have the type of investment to compete but alas, we're fighting on different battle fields at the moment.

I have thoroughly enjoyed watching City this season, everyone will remember Liverpool's bum rush football at the back end of this season but are quick to forget the devastating, sweeping football you boys played earlier on in the season. I'd love to have seen Negredo and Aguero to have stayed fit for longer and I'm saying that from a pure football fan point of view, it was brilliant. I've wanted you to win it all season quite honestly, your certainly more favorable than the other toss pot clubs vying for it.

I don't even care about being bitter or small time anymore, I hope you beat us on Saturday and I've never wanted us to be beaten before. Taking a bit of flak off the kopites for kissing your arses and taking a beating is far more appealing than the absolutely cringe fest that will occur should they win it. It's not just the fans, its the media as well. They're all willing it on. Did you notice Tyler practically appealing for a penalty for Liverpool on Sunday?
We'll play as strong a side as possible on Saturday though and Martinez WILL go to win the game, which could in fact play into your hands. We'll see. I'm not going to sit there with a face on if we score or boo if we take the points, if we win I'll still be moderately happy. But that sort of happiness when you have a greasy kebab after a night on the ale...you know this is gonna cost you!

To summarise: COME ON CITEH!!

(again, sorry about the essay)

I just now realized that Roberto Martinez could ruin two City campaigns in successive years with different teams, I'm bricking it.

I can't even sleep or eat.

Those odds on an Everton win are mental especially with our form against them at Goodison.

I don't know about that. We need to win. Flooding the midfield and grinding looks good if you can counter like Chelsea did v Liverpool, but it would be a different story if the other team defends well and forces a draw. Might be that the pragmatic decision is to try and attack.
