Hypothetical, maybe, given our ongoing misfortune, however, who should play??

................Hart...............
Boateng...Kolo..Kompany...Kolarov
Balo......DJ.......Milner.......Johnno
.................Silva.....................
.................Tevez...................

Not at all sure about the right side, however, given our options,i think those two are the best choice, thoughts?

Yaya not living up to the hype and Johnson always gets bums off seats, the team has such a dynamic when he's on the pitch, subsequently,i believe he should be starting games.

GK-Hart
DR-Boateng
CB-Kolo
CB-Kompany
DL-Kolarov
DMC-De Jong
MC-Milner
MC-Yaya
WING-Silva
WING-AJ
FW-Tevez

Playing Silva behind the striker would be nice but I don't know how that formation would look without compromising the midfield. I guess you could switch it up for some matches, playing two midfielders deeper and with a playmaker further up but the midfield has to be strong.

It's a great game picking the best team etc etc and I wonder if Mancini actually knows what he would choose as his best 11.I expect it would depend on what team we were playing and whether it is home or away.

The decision also depends on form to a point. I have seen plenty on here about various players. I seem to recall that Yaya was going to prove himself as one of the best box to box midfielders in the world but now he is getting attacked for being too lazy and simply not contributing too much.Crazy extremes.

Balotelli was being touted as a world class striker and after one game , just 1 game, big questions are being thrown out about him. Unbelievable.

Boateng was key alongside Kolarov as being part of the key to the style we were going to play with attacking full backs. Now after we have seen him for a bunch of games there are plenty that arent even sure he is worth his place in the side. You can't make some of it up.

There isn't really any such thing with City's squad as a best 11.I would prefer to focus on how the 11 selected play together. The way they understand the tactics they are asked to play and give 100% at all times.

-----------------------------------------Hart--------------------------------------------

Richards------------------Kompany-----------------Toure----------------------Kolarov---

--------------------------------------De Jong-------------------------------------------

Milner-------------------------------Y.Toure---------------------------------------AJ----

--------------------------------------Silva----------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------Tevez--------------------------------------------

Go on, bite my head off, but I just don't think we suit a 4-4-2, only a 4-5-1. As for Boateng, he hasn't impressed me at all, where Richards has and he deserves the place. Balo can't fit into 4-5-1 and can be used as a sub to change the game.

Good post,i agree with all that, did Mancini have had a first choice 11 in mind when he went on his spending spree or did he never intend to go for stability and simply buy enough players that would enable him to change the team according to opponents? i'm just attempting to gauge opinion on what, given current form etc. is our best eleven?

-- Sun Oct 31, 2010 8:54 am --

Richards is gash and Milner is a square peg in that team,IMO!

Who are we playing and where?
At home to mid table - lower table sides than a abck four would depend on who was in form at the time, with a midfield and attact looking something like:-
NDJ
AJ MJ Milner
Silver
Carlos

Or if the opposition have a decent attacking left winger or left back Sweep for AJ.

-------------------HART----------------

ZABALETA - KOMPANY - TOURE - KOLAROV

-----------------DE JONG----------------

---------------YAYA - MILNER------------

-----JOHNSON-------------- SILVA------

-------------------TEVEZ-----------------

JOHNSON MUST START!
Zab is far better than what I have seen of Boateng atm, Zab dives in alot but his game has improved

My personal starting XI would be:

---------------Hart-----------------
Boateng---Kolo---Kompany---Kolarov
------------Yaya---De Jong--------
Johnson-----------------Balotelli/Milner
-----------------Silva----------------
----------------Tevez------------
