My mate works for some and he reckons he was installing 4G along with 3G at some mastsbluemoon risin' said:Don't believe the hype. 70% of the population covered by christmas, no chance! I work in mobile telecom installs and upgrades, and 4G has not started being upgraded yet. It will be well into next year before there is decent coverage across the uk(bigger cities first), but don't hold your breath as parts of the country, most noticably Shropshire and Lincolnshire don't yet even have a blanket 2G coverage yet, despite being well into the 21st century! The demand for faster technology has never been higher as people try and hook up to the internet on their smartphones, tablets and dongles and the 3G network in particular, cant cope through antiquated antennas. You only need to be at City on a match day to try and make a call or browse the internet to realise this. Orange used to brag that they had 98% coverage of the uk. Yes, by population maybe, definately not land mass, and that goes for the other four network providers.
He's probably been installing Huawei on the Vodafone network which is 3G. I'm in the game and my company has not started 4G upgrade work yet. Neither has the companies of several mates who work for other companies. Your mate may well be installing trial sites, but as far as i've heard, 4G work will mainly start early next year'BoyBlue_1985 said:My mate works for some and he reckons he was installing 4G along with 3G at some mastsbluemoon risin' said:Don't believe the hype. 70% of the population covered by christmas, no chance! I remember a few years ago uninstalling old 2G equipment that was to be sent to Africa and India for them to reinstall. I wouldn't be surprised if parts of Africa are now on 4G though. I think the main reason we are still on 3G is we are only now out demanding supply despite 3G being ready to use as early as year 2000. Back then, the five network providers(o2-Orange-Vodafone-T-mobile and Huchison 3G) paid Ofcom multi millions for a 3G operating licence, but it is until fairly recently that they have made money, and have perhaps been(until now) reluctant to invest further in 4G, without being sure the upgrade will pay for itself. Japan are on (at least) 5G and lead the way in telecoms,LongsightM13 said:Did I read somewhere that the UK is way behind much of the rest of the world in 4G? Sure I read that some parts of Africa already have it
If 4G is fibre optic what the hell is the point of 5G does it beam the actual girl from the porn you are watching to your bedroombluemoon risin' said:I remember a few years ago uninstalling old 2G equipment that was to be sent to Africa and India for them to reinstall. Lol. Perhaps a rubber hand comes out of the phone and presents the phone user with a brew and a poptart!BoyBlue_1985 said:If 4G is fibre optic what the hell is the point of 5G does it beam the actual girl from the porn you are watching to your bedroombluemoon risin' said:I remember a few years ago uninstalling old 2G equipment that was to be sent to Africa and India for them to reinstall.
