Ewood Park 25th Anniversary 7/05/2000

The way PSR is set up in the EFL. If you’ve got a rich owner you’re better off getting relegated to League One. Building a side with much more lax PSR restrictions and then going for promotion to the Premier League.

What a day and up there with my best days following the blues.

Was thinking earlier, i doubt we will ever have a day again where we just take over an away ground the way we did that day.
Times have changed

Memories of that day:
Blackburn fans in a cafe near Ewood debating whether to sell their season tickets then deciding not to.
The referee shaking his head in disbelief after Blackburn hit the woodwork for the third (?) time.
Ipswich going 1-0 up and briefly heading for promotion.
Seeing a tv disappear from its brackets on the wall of the pub after Goater scored, or possibly after the own goal for 2-1.
How bloody hot it was.
Mark Kennedy scoring and rushing into Joe Royle's Arms.
Rovers fans seeming pleased City won and went up.
The packed train back to M/cr, two nutters jumped onto the platform when it stopped at Bolton to give a few thumps to an inoffensive Bolton lad.

I enjoyed the day there, we had some luck at times, but we won in the end and it was a great afternoon.

It didn't end well for me personally that day, though.

I walked into the pub after I got home to be told one of my closest friends had died suddenly that morning, so it was a bitter sweet day for me.

From elation to sadness, I walked home with tears trickling down my cheeks.

Football is irrelevant at times like that. RIP Bernard. I still miss you.
