Ex-City Players You Have Rose-Tinted Glasses For

I don’t think I’ve ever known a player get more grief that Edghill. After the unfortunate own goal, there was mass cheers when he was substituted. I always understood his confidence was shot afterwards.

Vicious treatment when you look back at it.
The horrible home defeat to Coventry. I was absolutely disgusted with a lot of fellow Blues that day, the entire team was awful, yet only he got any stick. From memory he AND Nicky Weaver were equally culpable for the other goal, both failed to communicate clearly

City's tartan bargains: 34 goals at £365 each!'s tartan bargains: 34 goals at £365 each!

A great season in the old second division with these two, great partnership.
'We all agree Tolmie is better than Nicholas' was a slightly tongue in cheek chant I remember at the time. We signed Jim Tolmie, someone very few had heard of (from a Belgian club wasn't it?) and Arsenal signed a very highly rated, high profile Charlie Nicholas from Celtic.
Seem to remember Nicholas doing 'glamour shots'(?!) in his undies in The Sun or Star or something like that, Tolmie just started doing less glamorous things like Scoring against the likes of Barnsley and Grimsby.
Much do I liked Tolmie (favourite moment the free kick at Chelsea!) you would however need rose tinted glasses if you thought he was better than Nicholas in truth. After a good first few months with us his form did seem to drop off quite a bit from memory?

The first couple of months he looked like the Jock version of Maradona, the rest he played and looked like Rab C Nesbitt.

I think his form went down the more he hit the whiskey.

The week before the Charlton promotion win he spent the week in hospital, allegedly down to the booze.

Garry Owen
I never forgave Alison for selling him
Alison, what a tool, that fly on the wall documentary on Granada showed him up for what he became. An ego fueled parody of himself, He ruined us with silly gestures like wanting to start again so sold Barnes and Owen, both not even in their prime. Start of terrible era for us. Swales was so naive bringing back Alison.

His form dropped as he was kicked to shit. Carlisle away?
