To all those idiots who think he is simply a good player in an average team, the captain of Norway will show you the truth. He is constantly in the Europa Sport Team of the Season and rarely puts a foot wrong. He is built like a brick shithouse but is cultured moving forward. He is also great when the pitches are frozen and the South Americans feel chilly. If we sign him in the summer I will be absolutely delighted. Just what the doctor ordered.

fucking annoys me though that Hangeland is another player we could have had for peanuts last year - when Hans Backe was our No.2 we were rumoured to be signing him for 2.5mil as he played under Backe in Norway.

hey ho it's not our money....

I rate him, Very good in air troubles defences at set pieces. One of the few that have kept SWP quiet this year.

Sorry but I must've missed something about this bloke. I just don't rate him. Obviously I don't see him play week in week out but from the little I have seen I would say steer clear.

Just an opinion.
A rather uninformed opinion I would say. He is selected regularly by Europe Sport as one of the best two central defenders in the EPL. He is captain of his national team. He constantly dominates so-called star strikers. But you know best...

"Hangeland is a bit rubbish really. He reminds me of Zat Knight. He'll play good for 10 minutes then switch off for the next 80 mins. You can have him for 12 or so million but he wouldn't be great for you lads. Onohua looked a real talent though. If you could get Agger as well, that would be a mighty partnership."

Just a quote of what I said in another thread.

He would be a great signing. I think we need to make Kompany the centre piece to the defense and build around him. I have said for awhile I want another defender in the centre who is tall and will win headers in the box and not get pushed around. I know I will get flack for this but American Oguchi Onyewu needs to be in consideration. He is tall and strong and pushes players around with ease and is appears as though he is perfect for the EPL.

He played on loan for newcastle united and i seem to remember he made quite a few costly mistakes and was one half of the first edition of the chuckle brothers roadshow (him and bramble)

After watching Hangelang on Sunday I have to say that I was quietly impressed, although to be fair we didn't exactly try and stretch him much, but he did everything he had to do well, and didn't waste the ball. He's got all the roughness and anticipation of Dunne, but miles better distribution. And he's left footed. And he's a threat of every corner.

Would be fairly happy to see him sign in Summer and he seems to be a realistically signable alternative to Samba who Hughes was pretty clearly after not so long ago, so could well be on the cards. Unless of course we are eyeing bigger fish. Would have liked to have seen Bellamy fit to test him.
