To be fair to him his goals did probably save us from relegation that season.Emile Mpenza - for some reason I thought he was going to be out next Anelka…
Totally agree - I just thought from there he would have pushed on and become great for us.To be fair to him his goals did probably save us from relegation that season.
Earliest city memories for me. Vic Gomersal was another, Bacuzzi"s understudy , and a wing half/ defender type Mike 'fatty' Batty I also remember.Dave Bacuzzi came from Arsenal a seemed like a good player but never really delivered. Arthur Mann came in from Hearts and also made little impression.
The mid late 1960s team did seem to have a problem with full backs to replace Barrie Betts and Cliff Sear. They ended up with doing without full backs for much of the time with Tony Book playing as sweeper on occasions and Glyn Pardoe in the number 3 shirt was more of a midfielder (not unlike Zinchenko or even Cancelo now). Bobby Kennedy, another midfielder would also play a lot at full back.
