Exeter City (H) | FA Cup | Post Match Thread

And to think some want rid.

I know. I’m sure we can be very successful without Pep and the style of play may change a bit to something that some would prefer, although Pep is always evolving within the boundaries of his principles, but no one will achieve as much as he has for this club.

He won’t hang around if the team is not improving under him and if he does not win more trophies.

Fair enough. I enjoy going to other grounds and experiencing the atmospheres they create. It’s a no stress game where you can sit back and enjoy others’ meltdowns, whilst enjoying a game of football.
My mates and I on a course went to see Crewe v Grimsby (with Bobby Kennedy) in the late 60s. We got in bother because we decided to cheer for the referee.

Had a look on their forum. Very complimentary about us as a club, the stadium especially. One player called it ‘ridiculous’, as in it’s that good it’s ridiculous.

Must be a real treat when you’re a fan of a club of that size, all due respect, to see your team play at a place like The Etihad.

Interesting these posts about watching other teams.
For me the distinction would be about how watched. On tv I virtually never watch any non-City club game, certainly not the whole game properly.
But live, depending on the circumstances, I would/have watched other teams with mates who support them as part of a day out etc.

We used to put all the games played in the north west on New Year’s Day into a hat and whichever team came out, we went to.

Few scoops and a fun day out, wherever we ended up.

Was at the Huddersfield game but missed this one as I was down in Plymouth dropping off my son. I had hoped for a Exeter away draw - so close to being perfect.
There were some happy campers in the Plymouth boozers though!
The local news was funny though that night. Had a feature on their trip speaking to their fans outside the stadium beforehand full of hope then cut back to the reader lady who just said “unfortunately Exeter lost the game 10-1” and moved on to the next story.

Id have been 13 for the huddersfield 10-1. It was the only home game i missed all aeason as Dad said, “itll be crap”. A mixture of joy and horror as teletext spelt out 10(ten) on the screen.
I had to give my ticket away yesterday as my son had a game that clashed.

Ill see a 10-1 one day :)
I was 12 years old when I aw that game ...sat on a wall in the kippax....iirc it was bloody freezing cold as well that day

When you could just roll up and pay three shillings on the gate, and there were no matches on TV (and not much else other than horse racing on a Saturday afternoon) it was common. Without starting an old argument, people did go alternate Saturdays to Maine Road and Old Trafford, even if fans of one club. If I was staying with my relatives in Paisley, I'd watch St Mirren. If on holiday in Devon, I might have watched Exeter (or Plymouth because of the Tony Book connection).

And if you'd gone to Derby to watch City and the game was iced-off.... who else went on to watch Notts County v Doncaster Rovers?

Sorry if it's been mentioned, but I saw a comment on their fan forum wondering whether it's the first time two number 42s have scored in the same match... I'd be surprised if it wasn't!
