I certainly hope for a better challenge for the PL this year; for it to be over by early March is not good enough and reflects poorly on English football. Secondly, I expect a more fluid, rounded game where we are capable of using pace, width and, where appropriate, directness to achieve the results certainly against the more difficult-to-break-down teams.
I see us picking up silverware but I'm not fixated by this. There will be I think 6-7 teams realistically vying for the domestic pots this year, with 4 (Us, Rags, Chelski and the Arse) going for the title in my opinion and the cups can always throw up a shock or two as was the case with this years League Cup finalists.
As for the CL, we have to make progress in the group stages. Simples. And I think it is here where the new boss will be most severely judged; If we reach the QF's I think that will definitely been seen as a positive foundation upon which to build. Flop again, and I think Pellegrini will be under pressure, although I don't think that would lead to him leaving early, I still think he'd get another season but there is a sense I think where the Club are saying "you are the man, here are the resources, now go and deliver" and he has to be seen to do so.
I also think we'll see some younger players blooded more frequently than has been the case previously.
Fundamentally, I expect to see a sterner, harder-to-beat City playing closer to the 2011-12 standard and be a serious contender in all competitions.
