Expectations

I think the expectation was to move on in terms of quality, playing style and trophies won....

Judging by today's performance we have actually gone backwards....in his post match interview Pellegrini was even moaning about them putting 10 men behind the ball and all but said 'they didn't play football' (the right way!).

Naive bollocks...I think he needs to wise up, and fast. I don't want another manager but he needs to learn how to set up and play in this league within the next 2 to 3 games or he will be gone IMO.

That worried me that interview he should know or at Least of watched some of the games we played away from home last season this is not the Spanish league where teams have a go at you and there bags of space he has to wise up pretty quickly or we are fcuked

It worried me deeply. Those excuses will not wash with our fans, the board, the owners, or the media. It actually sounds like he was excusing our performance because Cardiff didn't play by the rules....what also concerned me was the poor set up for set pieces....it was total disarray.

One thing I would like to see from the manager is to own up to his failure. Last year I remembered that at the beginning of the season Mancini said the expectations was to win the league and progress in the Champions league, but when he lost the league he started backpedaling and claimed that the expectations were to get into the Champions league.

We all know that the expectations are to win the league and MP knows that as well, so if we don't win the league hopefully he assumes the failure and work on from there. I don't want him saying something around the lines that the expectations was to get into the Champions league.

I'm probably not alone in thinking we've over estimated how good we are. I know its early but I've seen enough to know there are better teams with more depth in their squad than us. My expectations are lowered after that result today.

The expectation is that we win a major trophy. That's the Premier League or the Champions League. That's based on the amount of money that the chairman has spent. Around £500m. Expecting anything else is naive. We pay our manager and players top wages to win. If winning is not the expectation then we may as well sign cheaper players as quite frankly anyone can lose.

Not expecting anything this season as we have a new manager and some news players but next season there won't be any excuse .

The attitude of the players had better change for the better or else I would expect us finish lower than we did last year.

I expect a season similar to last. Plenty of highs and a few lows, but hopefully this season we'll be top or nearer the top.
We'll hopefully do better in the cups too ;-)

Struggle to be top 4 and wont win a cup but could maybe do well in the CL

MP gone end of the season - sorry dont give a shit what people say the level of committent shown by the players to the club and fans is appaling and the work ethic is simply no where near where it should be to finish top 3 let alone win anything

It has just occurred to me that we have lost three of our last four competitive matches.

What teams aren't in transition? All of the top clubs in the country have changed managers over the course of the last couple of years (Arsenal aside) so I believe some are already making excuses. Pellegrini has the resources to win the league at the first attempt in my book.

I won't be calling for him to be sacked if he doesn't win the league mind, just think that he's more than capable of winning it this season.

I expect more from players who are paid as much as our lot and cost millions to buy.

The top teams don't keep losing away to teams that have one objective only which is to try and stay in the Premier League.

That is the archilles heel of this City team - I dread the Sunderland away fixture.

Expectations?

Well, the manager who won us the League was sacked after coming second the season after, despite not being given the money or players he wanted to take us on. His successor HAS been funded and allowed to buy all the players he wants and has come out and said we have the best squad.

Therefore the expectations surely are that we do better than last season ie we win the league and do better in Europe. Anything less would surely be regarded as a failure.

This is the thing. We were told Mancini got the chop because he lost the dressing room. Yesterday's performance makes you wonder.

I feel nearly as peed off about this defeat as I did after the FA Cup Final v Wigan.
Have we learned nothing . Personnel have changed -nothing has changed.
I tell you we will put 5 past Hull then slip up on the road with a similar performance be it Stoke,Southampton or Sunderland.
100% guts beats 100% ego......

Our Owners expectations are immense -someone needs to start delivering it before they find a new hobby....

Are our expectations too high? compared to before the takeover this is like a golden age.. many of us have got spoilt with that little bit of success at winning the league, but to be one of Europe's elite clubs we need to win alot more.

It's not the end of the world when we lose a game and don't win a trophy in a season.

tell Bobby that
