Explosion at MEN Arena/Victoria Station

My brother messaged me last night to tell me that there had been a suspected explosion at the Arena. He was told about it by his wife who was at the gig with their daughter. I told him not to worry as it was probably an electrical fault.

I woke up this morning to the news. I'm absolutely devastated. I'm in floods watching the news. I have always been parochial when it comes to my hometown and it has only grown since I have moved away. I love my city so much. It's devastating and terribly sad what has happened. At the moment, I cannot even get angry about it.

My heart goes out to those who went to the concert and the families directly affected by this horrendous act.
 
I think the goings on at the Etihad are because it's being used as a meeting point for lost people

I was behind 3 girls crossing the the road as they were about to go in. They were talking about how much glitter on their face was too much. That's all they should be worrying about, not some fucking lunatic loner!
 
The magnificence of the emergency services and the selflessness of local people not hesitating to offer services / support stand way above the evil of one cowardly bastard intent on causing carnage. What on earth was going on in his head?

As ordinary people, all we can do is hope those injured receive all the help required in their recovery, bury our dead, stand with those who've lost loved ones and try to continue with our lives. This is a genuinely sickening morning but thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathy to everyone involved.
