Point. The amount of times I have been delayed by a green protester? Zip nilch nadda etc if it ever happens I will give him/her a thumbs up, but them a coffee and ring my boss and tell him i will be delayed.

It’s just another deflection by selfish arseholes who feel they have the right to do what they want until they become worm food.

If people don't have the right to do what they want out of selfishness then what should they do? Lock themselves in their homes? Ride a bike 20 miles to work? Stand on the protest line with that protester whilst they lose their job and their kids go hungry? Solidarity with a protester isn't going to solve this problem.

The hard truth is that climate change was barely a problem 100 years ago but now it's a huge problem. The reason for this is simple and it's down to maths, the rate of global population growth is causing climate change and it will always defeat all efforts to combat it.

XR - is this group actually helping?

I don't know much about the group - but I must say that their nom-de-plume - is - well, sensationalist.

I'd guess - at this point - that most rational people - who base their opinions on science - are already in favor of measures to curb climate change.

What's left - and is hard to convince - are those mostly on the right who believe that they know better than science. Climate change isn't real - or isn't a big deal - and if we don't produce a bunch of petroleum to make money - well some other country will - so we'd better keep up with petroleum production... and so forth.

In other words, measures to combat climate change are for whatever reason politically controversial.

A group named "Extinction Rebellion" isn't going to help at all to convince climate change skeptics to change their mind.

No you didn't say any of those things but at the same time you've deflected it yourself too? You have shown solidarity with a protester but then went along with your day polluting and doing nothing about the problem. This is how climate change movements in this country work, they moan and do nothing but get in the way of the wrong people. I mean blimey, we saw in the height of XR protests that people were being bussed by diesel chugging buses to protests.

As I said, standing on the streets isn't going to solve the problem. Standing in Tiananmen Square might be more productive but I haven't seen the Chinese branch of XR out there just yet....

Personally I think people just love to protest but actually they don't understand nor care about the science just as much as the hardest denier doesn't. The reason they don't care is because the fact is there is nothing really to protest about, the UK is rapidly reducing its Co2 output and policy has been highly effective. That doesn't quite fit the bill of an anti-government protest narrative though does it?

They agree to targets, they fiddle the way it’s calculated, they miss the targets, they agree to new targets, they fiddle.......... round and round.

In 2021 you can still buy a 6 litre engined car that does 10 mpg, you can still buy single use plastic bags. In fact if you’re loaded you can pollute with impunity. Luckily for the plebs a plastic bag is only pennies. Radical that isn’t it plastic in every part of the ocean. Solution charge a few pennies for a bag. Paper straws for your milkshake? But they go a bit wet no fair sniff.

The enviroment isn’t just about co2 emissions it’s about everything around us. But a protester or protesters causing a small amount of inconvenience is so annoying. Fuck me human beings they never stop do they.

I’m not sure which is worse the people who believe govts, those that pretend they do or the ones that don’t give a shit.

Every time I have seen an ER protest closing roads, inconveniencing ordinary people trying to go about their daily lives have I thought “ooh I hope the politicians listen to them and act accordingly?”
No, I have thought get the water cannon out and clear the streets of them.
In just the same way as the violent, criminal actions at OT yesterday have no justification.
