Extinction Rebellion

Then you need to oppose the Goverment. If all the Goverment are looking for is an 'excuse' then I'd suggest the Goverment don't really have the thoughts of the nation at hand and taking your anger out on (perhaps naive/misguided) protesters is not the way to go
I'm not taking anything out on them. It's them stopping people doing things, not me. The right to protest is like the right to free speech - it comes with a level of responsibility or you fuck it up for everyone. Protest has its limits. It's great for quickly raising the profile of an issue, but once raised you have to find a way to re-engage with the democratic processes or the protest has to either become more extreme or just tedious. This is the hard part, and they have not thought it through.

Hearts and minds, if you will. And I tend to agree with that, although putting a slight delay to the Mail or Sun being delivered shouldn't really be a vote loser, in my opinion.

My wider point is that if th eGoverment are just looking for an 'excuse' then we've a bigger problem than the Sunday paper's being delivered on time

Absolutely.

An inconvenient truth was 2006. The time for reasoned debate and appropriate actions have long gone. Anyone not liking it then sorry tough shit. I'm struggling to think of any action that I would think is misplaced.

Well, it's certainly tough shit for 63 of these No More Nails aficionados, although I suppose a criminal record that screws up job prospects won't worry them too much.

As everyone knows, the majority of these XR bunch are affluent middle class Southern types, denying ordinary working folk the opportunity to, err, work.
These are not typical, ordinary Brits, they are moralising, hectoring, fanatics that are, hopefully, going to see jail time for criminal damage and disruption, as simply using your trust funds to pay off any fines isn't going to wash in future.

So no, or by all accounts, not many, are Northern Working class, which comes as no surprise to absolutely anyone, plus Dawn Butler and Dianne Abbott are all for it, which is also
unsurprising.
These people never want to engage their their theories in great detail, on how, exactly, an expanding world population gives up fossil fuels, and nuclear fuel, in fact any source not deemed 'Natural,' and rely on these other sources to supply all energy needs. The facts are, unless we revert back to pre industrial, food and business models, and vastly reduced living standards in some sort of collective, it won't be happening. If anyone of them can tell us how it can be done, let's hear it, but they don't, they parrot gibberish and waffle sprinkled with wish lists to support it.

Basically all drive to a protest to tell the rest of us to walk or use a bike.

They are typical Brits. They are ordinary middle class Southern Brits of the opposite gender. Bless them.

Wow - so the protests at Knowsley and Motherwell at the same time were also peopled solely by wealthy middle class southerners too?

Did you read the articles?
When I see Bert from Bolton sacking off his 12 hour, 6 day a week warehouse job, joined by Mavis from Middlesborough jacking in her Tesco shelf stacking job, joining up with the owners of large properties, and I see them in these numbers, you may have a point.

a bunch of publications directly affected by the direct action respond by printing misleading generalisations and lies to try and discredit protesters - Bert could probably make it to Knowsley, can't see Mavis making it to Motherwell though - I suppose XR will just have to rely on armies or Peregrine's and Ophelia's travelling north................funny how there were no reports of public transport being flooded by protesters heading north nor any reports of the traffic chaos on the M1 just past Watford Gap that they were causing.

Misleading lies were they? Par for the course I suppose.
I will refer back to this, when we hear of the court hearings of those arrested for criminal damage and destruction, we'll take it up then, but I'm betting Bert the warehouse worker from a council estate, or many of his demographic. won't be up before the beak.

The vast majority if not all who are processed will be charged with sect 5 BoP

Not a clue but I know average working folk can't really afford to dance with plastic bags in their spare time.

The printing presses are in the park now? Suppose it makes a change from the Proms. Speaking of which I wonder how much of this years programme the Jerusalem gammon have watched or listened to thus far? Its KOKOROKO tonight - some West African Afrobeat Jazz.......right up their street no doubt

I'm not sure Bert or Mavis would be the best people to base ones future on.
