We're baaackkk again!!! After another winter hibernation the teams have been shuffling their packs about and been hard at work testing for the new season. It seems to be tight again this year with the usual pretenders trying to prove they have what it takes up their sleeve. We've also seen the extension of drivers paying for their seats at the expense of very talented drivers, so we say goodbye sadly to Kovalainen, Glock, Kobayashi, Senna, Alguersuari(promised a drive and then not given it) and Petrov amongst others, and we've also said farewell to Schumy who's headed off into his 2nd retirement and already said hello and farewell to Luiz Razia who paid the price for dancing with the devil when one of his sponsors let him down and Marussia promptly kicked him out.
Last year's champion was City Raider who survived the rain in Brazil to claim the season 2 title and join mcfc1982 on the Champions board. Our maiden cup winner was The Cookie Monster and depending on the number of entrants we'll visit that avenue once again this season.
Onto business and the matter of picking your team. The same process, pick 2 drivers, 1 constructor and 1 engine manufacturer from the lists within your budget which is once again £140m:

The points system proved to be difficult and unpredictable last year. Whilst overall the table eventually balanced itself out it meant that over each pair of races teams were wildly jumping/falling up and down the table due to penalty points and other little reasons that made the whole points system over-complicated. So for this season it is back to basics with a new and simpler points system:
Points System
Drivers
You get the points scored by your driver in the race (ie. 1st=25, 2nd=18, 3rd=15 etc.).
For qualifying, you are awarded 3 points for getting through Q1, and that is upped from 3 to 6 if you make it through to Q3. Instead of the previous top 10 Qualifying points system, it is being capped to the Top 6, meaning now that pole position will earn you 10 points, 2nd-8pts, 3rd-6pts, 4th-4pts, 5th-2pts and 6th-1pt. Previously points for qualifying were too excessive and whilst taking qualifying seriously and being positive should be rewarded, it shouldn't be on a par with races and therefore I've lowered the points available in qualifying by a reasonable amount.
The old rule that meant you could gain or lose points depending on your driver's position from race to race has been abolished for qualifying, and from this season you will gain or lose a point for every position you finish above or below your last race finish, but this will only apply to drivers who complete both races, which prevents what happened last year where drivers were losing massive points for retiring one week then finishing on the podium the next.
It is still -10 points for retirement due to a mechanical or technical issue with the car and -15 for a crash that your driver caused. These are the only deductions that will be placed on drivers this year and no points will be deducted for your driver being involved in a crash that was caused by another driver.
Constructors
The constructors points system will remain the same as last season. You will score the points your constructor scored for that race and you will gain or lose the difference between the total scored at that race and the previous race. I.e. if you score 25 in the first race and then 28 in the 2nd race, you will actually score 31 at the 2nd race as you will gain an extra 3 points and so on.
Engines
Same as last year. 10 points for all of the engines provided by your engine manufacturer completing the race, -3 points per engine change and -6 per engine failure.
Deadline for being included in the Australian GP is 23.59 on Thursday 14th March.
In the event of 2 teams that are entered being the same, the team entered 2nd will be asked to change.
Here's my team:
Fernando Alonso-£50m.
Nico Hulkenberg-£35m.
Mercedes-£35m.
Cosworth-£20m.
Total-£140m.
Good luck!
