F1 thread - 2019 Season

Leclerc: “I asked whether they were sure. They said, 'We think we are.' I said, ‘Shouldn’t we go again?' Didn’t have explanations yet in detail. V difficult to take. Plenty of time to go again. The weighbridge was not the problem. We had fuel to go again. Need some explanations."

It does tend to slow a car down. Say what you like about Hamilton, yes, he may be in the best car, but again and again he pulls something special out when he's under pressure. He is one hell of a driver.

Well I'm glad someone mentioned it, absolute class from our Lewis once again, there's just not much more you can say about the greatest driver ever.

To translate the Team Principals statement:
Vettel is not the Team Principal. I am until Monday. Vettel is not our only driver. I just found out we got two! Pity It's Chucks home race. But at least Sebs Ok...

I’ve got one, They always look after their number one drive.

they was hiding something by not coming out again and Ferrari's are always at it ?? taking a big gamble with something like tyres or fuel and then not to come out because questions could have been asked in the pits ??? but again they are miles off and after the great so called pre-season they are flat and not at the races

Called it after China. Their car is simply miles behind and their strategies defy any logic

they had set very good and fast times in pre-season testing and everything looked good ?? but come race time something was wrong and vettel pulling rank so early in the season and calling team orders to pull Leclerc and let vettel pass was wrong and was the end for Ferrari this season, and now this with dropping a bollock in qualifying and did vettel again call team orders in not letting Leclerc come back out knowing he was in trouble

Team orders are okay when done correctly, but Ferrari have too much hesitance about them

i don't agree with team orders because its wrong and maybe the sport and team should only have a single car and invest in one driver or swap drivers in the pits
I don't like them either but they are inevitable sometimes, I personally believe they should only be used when one car is on a different strat to the other

Controversial I know but can we dump Monaco for a couple of seasons? It's basically F1 drivers parading past their houses.

F1 in its current form is not working in terms of entertainment. The cars are simply too wide. Overtaking has become ridiculously difficult, especially on Monaco.
The cars need to change imo, rather than just the tracks

It’s been turned into a number crunching algorithm of tyre deg and undercuts on pit stops. Maybe they should bring fueling at pit stops again but then there is the safety aspect with some nasty fires happening in the past.

It's true, it's a shame but the sport has become more and more about who can be the best at conserving tyres and fuel to a degree, this season specifically is ridiculous. Lewis and Fernando discussed it a while back:

but having team orders give other drivers a way of blocking or slowing the race down to suit their other driver and that is not right ?? you should be in the race to win or compete not slowing somebody down, that's why F1 should be single driver teams or even have a swap over driver and have half and half race ??? and maybe getting more teams and investment with single cars could be a better way and cheaper to invest

Blah, blah, blah... It's a team sport, therefore teams will do what they think is best for them. They tried banning it but it still happened. It's part of the sport.

And, Monaco is still one of the greatest races in World motorsport. It ain't going anywhere.

Enjoy the race!
