What cliche stick? Every single criticism Southgate has received has been warranted. Only idiots, and you’re not alone on this judging by a couple of posts I’ve read today think that he’s the man for the job.

Next manager will get

‘FA yes man’
‘Clueless’
‘What’s he really achieved in his career?’
‘Too stubborn’
‘Tactically naive’
‘Too negative’
‘F*ckin useless’

Use this as a bingo card for whoever we get next

That describes Southgate to a tee. It would all depend on who the next manager is before we can apply any of the above to them.
Regardless, you’d still be there waving your little flag and telling anybody daft enough to listen that England are the bestest in all the world.

Sure will
England fan that wants England to win - I know that’s a rarity online nowadays

We’re one of the best sides in the world not the best though

England flag and bedding away now till next time

Tell me any top manager at the height of their career that would want any National gig?

Those days are long, long gone.

I actually think he should be stripped of his CBE or whatever he got. I'd like to see hinm paraded through the streets tbh. Semi final and finals are a disgusting return on this crop of players.... I mean Rice, Maguire, TAA, Pickford, Shaw, Kane, Wilson.... These could have played for France or Brazil and won things, but no we had the WASTEcoat.

We havent had a golden generation since the last two times we had them, but this time we have actually gone backwards since losing to Iceland in 2016. Get rid of Southgate, I dont care who, put Ole in charge, he would do better.

England had the best overall squad in the tournament, they won't win anything with waistcoat in charge.

We went there with one left back. France took three players who can play that position comfortably. Far more depth in midfield and their starting attack is by the far the best in the tournament.

The problem you have Mark, is not that you want England to win, there’s nothing wrong with that whatsoever. It’s your inability to see issues that are staring you in the face because you think supporting them regardless is what’s important.

There are still posters on this very thread defending him!! It’s mind blowing.
What was the plan last night? Watching City, you can usually see what Pep is trying to do. You can see when he changes it. But I had no idea what England's plan was last night. And when Pickford started hoofing it upfield I lost the will to live.

Eh? You could say the same about any City fan in the late 90's. There's a huge difference between supporting your team, as most of us do, and thinking they're the best in the world, which I've never heard ANY England fan say.

Sure, you get the songs, the chants, so does every other team/country in the world, that's just part of the match day banter. Or can't you tell the difference? Or are you saying we shouldn't support our country because they won't win anything?

England have moved away from 1966 and all that.
Unfortunately the F.A. are now stuck with the mindset of 'the crass of '92', which sees them advising the manager to pick raggy players, irrespective of their (non) performances at club level.
Southgate follows the script to the letter and doesn't make a fuss, so he's in the chair. I don't think any half decent manager would have done a much better or worse than DS.
Who would I have post Southgate?
If Bobby Manc is available and wants it, we could do a damn sight worse....

What’s more mind blowing is there are posters saying they played well!! Very very low expectations is the only reason I can think of to come to that conclusion.

I suspect Pickford had got fed up of Maguire taking it sideways and back for 5 minutes every time he got it. He was probably losing the will to live too.
