FA Cup 2024/25 Fourth Round 7th - 11th February

I’m not sure about that handball.
I know it wasn’t deliberate but if it doesn’t hit his hand the balls gone and so is the chance.

Commentary thinks var wouldn’t have given the handball cos it wasn’t deliberate.
It’s one of them given one week and not the next.
My (probably flawed) understanding of the handball rule when a goal is scored is that, if the ball hits a player's arm/hand, and that player isn't the scorer of the goal, then the goal will be allowed if the handball is adjudged to be not deliberate. If the scorer has handled the ball, then the goal will be disallowed, irrespective of whether the handball is deliberate or not.

Probably wrong, mind!

Palmers purple patch seemingly come to an end. Still looks good but no where near level of last year

That’s my understanding too.
My problem is he’s controlled the ball with his arm, even though not deliberately.
Without it hitting his arm the balls gone and no longer under his control and the chance is then gone also.
In them circumstances I’d personally like to see the handball given.
If it just brushes his arm and doesn’t control the ball then not given.

Another trophy opportunity gone west for Chelsea. Just the Conference League* left for them to play. I'm guessing they'll be one of the favourites for that. But after all the cash they've splurged in the last couple of years, I'd have thought they'd have had their sights set higher than that?

*There's no CL place next season for the winners of that, is there? That's only in the Europa League, isn't it?
