Still shaking my head at the Rochdale game yesterday. 2-0 down after 3 minutes, 3-2 up going into injury time, and lost 4-3. Unbelievable
Yeah, if all the teams involved want replays prelims, 1st and 2nd rounds, can’t see why they can’t still have them. Not beyond that though.Money is money, should really have kept replays until the third round.
The FA Cup is a knock-out competition. get it done on the day. Lower placed teams have a better chance of progressing if it's a draw after 90 mins rather than having extra time or replay. Like you, don't see the point in having replays.Yeah, if all the teams involved want replays prelims, 1st and 2nd rounds, can’t see why they can’t still have them. Not beyond that though.
I blame it on those two pigs that went on the run……Burton Albion v Tamworth. A Derby. 16 miles apart.
Went to a 4th qualifying round game at Burton v Tamworth (Eton Park). Big turn out by the Tammies. Game finished in a draw. After the game, we were funneled out 1 by 1. Everyone had their picture taken and videoed by Staffordshire's finest.
Tamworth had a reputation in them days. Not for violence but for the amount that would travel to away games.
Guiseley lost on pens away at Stevenage. Just the 4 leagues above....Is anyone on this board involved in supporting or helping to run a Non-league or lower League team ?
I'm not so sure that FA Cup replays are always such a money spinner, especially in the early rounds ?
Yes, WSM v Bristol Rovers is a local derby, so this would probably sell-out for a replay.
But lower Non-league teams sometimes struggle to get all their players available, mid week.
Also, are League club supporters bothered about a mid week away replay with a long distance to travel ?
If you are playing a team 4 leagues above, it will be a huge payday, due to the glamour of playing a League team.Guiseley lost on pens away at Stevenage. Just the 4 leagues above....
Stevenage mustered about 2500 fans. If we had a replay at Nethermoor, there would be a similar number at Guiseley. Which would be 2500 x £10 (average) or about £10k for each club. 20k over the two games is a lot of money at non league level.
