FA Cup 25/26 - 4th Qualifying Round draw(P3)

Went to Ashton United today. Torrential rain and hail at the start of the second half. Crowd of 440.

A tier between the sides but not much on today’s performance.

Long range effort for the first goal, which was quality strike.

Where are the Moston Rag Socks? Ha ha ha

Chaddy rewarded with a long trip to Spennymoor.
Ashton United should fancy their chances at Runcorn and a nice Cheshire derby between Macc and Nantwich

Thanks.
Great user name PinkFinal, takes me back to the 1970's when an MEN van used to turn up, throw a bundle of Pinks and move on. A group of predominantly middle aged men would hand over their 7p. 10p, 12p whatever it was, go home and devour it.
I'm assuming, in this era of electronic media, that the Pink Final fell by the wayside a long time ago.

I think it was more the advent of Sunday football. 5PM Saturday in the 70's you new where your team stood, it was all done and dusted. Recall Des Lynam on GRANDSTAND or MofTD, I think who used to say team x is top tonight, always emphasised the word tonight, that was it for the weekend.

I was asked by Peter Spencer, then the sports editor of the MEN to come in and have a few sarnies and a beer at the Deansgate office along with other sad twats who spent their life writing letters to the Pink every week.
They presented us with a few ideas about ways forward for the ailing paper (such as coming out on a Sunday).
He said the paper had a shelf life from 6-6.15pm when it hit the newsagents until 7.30pm when they shut. So Sunday printing allowed the paper to contain much more in depth reviews of games etc.
Spencer said if United didn’t play on a Saturday sales were extremely down.
