FA Cup 3rd Round Draw | Chelsea (H) | 4:30pm, Sun 8 Jan

We are bad in cup competitions, according to us we have the best manager in the world, 1 fa Cup no champions league,.1 final we lost to Chelsea, so tell me apart from league Cup, when have we shown how good we are in cup competitions
So, apart from four of the cups, we've won since Pep arrived, you don't think we've shown we're good in cup competitions?...

Do you not see a little bit of irony in your own post?

Not going to lie, it's a frustrating draw to say the least.

I want City to win any competition they participate in, and so far this season, the draws have been completely unkind domestically. Chelsea gave a us a good game in the League Cup, Ortega was sensational. It all comes down to who starts and how we rotate as the league fixture between the sides earlier in the week is the more important at Stamford Bridge.

Could have done with a gimme, but, we get on with it. No point in claiming it's a dodgy draw... that's for teams wearing red and a losers mentality.

Don’t agree the draws have been unkind. Tough undoubtedly. But we’ve had 3/3 home draws. Whenever you hear the manager talking about the pressures of managing so many games in short succession, he always talks about how much easier things are when you’re preparing around home games.

My guess is if you asked the manager if he’d take Liverpool or Chelsea at home or a shit lower league team 200 miles away, he’d go for the home game in an instant.

I hope this game is competitively priced and at a reasonable time. I will be bringing over our seven year old Grandson and a long drive home on a late Sunday KO the day before a school day will be out of the question.

Of course the raggies at home as well will mean they will get first choice because they will also be on TV.

I don't mind that draw. I'd rather get a top 6 club than any other Premier League team.

Hopefully, decent ticket prices will lead to a good atmosphere.

We.have won the league Cup, yes its a cup but not as glamorous as the F.A. Cup, we have underperformed in the FA Cup and Champions League under Pep, no irony just how I see it

With the league game being Thursday night, can see this only being a late Sunday kick off or the Monday evening game.

Ours is the tie of the round so we will get the primetime slot which I think is probably 4pm Sunday.

I think our cuo record in recent years is good, but I certainly get pissed off when we reach fa cup semi finals and then suddenly slacken off.

Same price cap as the Liverpool game so probably identical to that.

Different rules though on setting prices, City can set adults £10, concessions £5 and kids £0 and Chelsea have no say in it.

Fair enough, I wasn’t thinking of the minimum prices. I doubt they’ll come into play though. Pretty sure the best seats will be bang on the £25 cap and the rest not far behind.

After watching the dire football served up in Qatar so far I can't wait to see City again but January will be a make-or-break month for all clubs.
It's been shite hasn't it. Lots of mitigating factors, but the quality is awful, including all the City lads (when they can get a game). Goes to show what having a good coach work with players on a system all week does.

I bet Chelsea fans will have a different view on it.
Toughest of draws, away, Xmas time, can't get back to London, no trains. 2nd time this season .

Must be bent.
Still, the champions league trophy balloon businesses in Chelsea will be giving out Christmas bonuses like they're Scrooge after the ghosts have been.

Certainly beats the cup run of 98/99 when we played Halifax in the first round, Darlington x 2 in the second and got beat by Wimbledon in the 3rd!
I was at that Wimbledon game, there were more City fans than home fans (think we took about 6,000?).
Paul Dickov had a goal disallowed and I seem to remember Joe Royle saying that the 'big sides' always got the decisions. We were admittedly 2 Divisions below them at the time (strange to think that now isn't it!)but his comments did get quite a 'mixed' reaction, including from City fans I seem to recall.
In a strange kind of way that Halifax game felt a bit like redemption for that woeful day at The Shay a couple of decades previously!
