FA Cup 3rd Round | Swindon (A)

Hi all, ticket details are being announced for this next week but STFC are hoping to give you the Stratton Bank (uncovered behind the goal) only, with the usual Arkells Stand allocation given to home fans. The SB is currently in a state of disrepair and doesn’t have a safety certificate, with work needed on the toilets*, CCTV and turnstiles amongst other things.

*these were condemned about 10 years ago and the club just bring in a couple of portaloos on the rare occasion that stand is needed!

If they finally fill in all the seats again then the allocation is c.2000 I believe.

City will be happy with Friday night game. I think straight afterwards they will be heading to Abu Dhabi for a week

Was thinking about taking my lad to this, but the new date has scuppered that I think. Probably would’ve struggled for tickets anyway tbh, but at least we can watch it on TV. Bit shit though for those going in terms of trains etc.

So nobody gives a fuck about fans trying to get back to Manchester by public transport after an evening kick-off on a Friday?
Or sort accommodation Friday night and make a weekend of it. Budget hotels, Premier Inn are cheap as chips. Loads to do in that area on the Saturday before heading back.

Thanks for the information. Is there much excitement at Swindon for this game?

Now depends on the COVID restrictions, what sort of a good time can be had.

However I do like your thinking, that is definitely the way to do it.

I sometimes look at other club’s forums when we draw them and it’s noticeable now Pep is here that every single fan of every lower division club just says “Oh well. That’s that then”. They literally don’t even contemplate an upset.

In a word…yes. It’s our first third round appearance since we beat Wigan in 2012 under the mad Italian Paolo Di Canio. Funnily enough, Wigan won it the following season, but I can’t recall the opponents ;)

Throw in an awful few years for the club with ownership issues and the expectation that City usually play a decent side in the cups, then this tie is eagerly anticipated in Wiltshire.
