To be fair, engineering work is Network Rail's responsibility. The train operators just have to plan around the available capacity on diversionary routes.

I think the main issue is the cup final falling on a Bank Holiday weekend when rail engineering work is always planned so routes can be blocked from Saturday to Monday to complete larger projects.
I assume the cup final is 2 weeks later than in previous years as a hangover of the winter World Cup in Qatar. Therefore, the organisation to blame are our corrupt friends at FIFA!

Hotel booked for 4 of us, driving down early morning and staying over after the game. Can get 4 tickets as all on cup scheme but ideally want a 5th so hopefully it’ll go down low enough to season card but with around 4k points.
