Hi everyone,
I wanted to share my recent experience with Seat Unique and how it has impacted me, in the hopes of making other City fans aware of the dangers of dynamic pricing—something I, unfortunately, did not fully understand until now.
When Manchester City reached the FA Cup Final, I was over the moon and determined to make it a special experience for my nine-year-old nephew, who is a huge City fan. Living in London, he’s only ever seen City play at local clubs, and usually from opposition areas, where he can’t fully support the team he loves.
My nephew has Tourette’s Syndrome and has been struggling to come to terms with his diagnosis. It’s been really hard on him, and I thought that taking him to Wembley to watch City in the FA Cup Final would lift his spirits and give him something positive to hold onto after a difficult year.
I decided to buy two hospitality tickets through Seat Unique because I believed that was my only real chance at getting into the venue. I honestly had no understanding of what the face value of the tickets would be. Given that it was an FA Cup Final, I just assumed that the price being asked was the true value of the tickets. Even though the cost was high—£3,147.90 for two tickets—I wanted so badly to give my nephew this experience that I put it on my credit card and planned to pay it off over a few months.
I later discovered that identical tickets through Seat Unique were being sold for £399 each—a difference of more than £2,300! I contacted Seat Unique in dismay, hoping for some understanding or a gesture of goodwill. Their response was a cold explanation about dynamic pricing, comparing it to hotel rooms and flights. They said prices drop and rise with demand, but they offered me nothing—not even an apology. Since then, I’ve sent a further complaint to Seat Unique, which they have completely ignored.
I contacted Manchester City’s Ticket Compliance Team, and they have now logged my complaint against the ticket provider, I have also left negative reviews on google and trust pilot.
To be honest, I’ve been too embarrassed to share what happened with friends and family. I’ve been trying to carry the weight of this horrible experience myself, but I wanted to come here and share it with fellow supporters, because I don’t want anyone else to go through this.
I can’t help but feel financially exploited. I paid over three times the current price for the exact same seats, and the justification I was given was just a blanket statement about “market demand.” But when prices swing so wildly, it’s hard to see it as anything but taking advantage of fans’ passion and loyalty. What should have been a beautiful experience for me and my nephew has been completely overshadowed by the sense that I’ve been ripped off.
Despite everything, my nephew is absolutely buzzing for the game tomorrow, so I’m going to try my very best to put all these negative feelings aside and just focus on his smile. Let’s hope we get to witness City lifting the cup.
Has anyone else had this experience with them? I would really appreciate any advice or suggestions.
Thanks for reading

Sorry to hear about your experience. Agencies like these are absolute leeches, and should be outlawed. £1500+ for a cup final ticket is disgusting.

Hope you and the lad have a great day.

Unless I was absolutely rolling in it, in fact even if I was I'd not be paying that sort of money for a game. However, it is what it is, people have been 'robbed' for Oasis tickets a few months ago, I say robbed but ultimately if people paid it they were happy at the time.

Hopefully we can all salute Kev with the cup later tomorrow .

This practice is precisely what our fans have been protesting about. The club has been releasing tickets to these sort of bandits. I am sorry for what has happened to you. Just fraud really but you are not the only one. Hopefully we will win and your nephew has memories for the rest of his life.

These companies are leeches and pray on people like you. It's awful and should be illegal but hotels do and airlines do it and I have been stung by both of them. Of course I have had the opposite really cheap hotels and airline travel.

It doesn’t look like there’s anyway you’re getting your money back this time. Unless, probably the longest of long shots and maybe contact your credit card company and see if there’s any way that they’ll withdraw the payment? Doubt it though.

But going forward, maybe buy the kid a membership ( £20 ) and buy your tickets through the club in future.

I dont think there's any remedy for the way you've been treated in this case. The best way to process it in your head was that you were "happy" to pay that price for the experience with your nephew tomorrow, and had you not seen anything since, you'd still be "happy" with it. Hope you have a great day tomorrow and we all celebrate a win.

Does anyone know if Seat Unique are one of the 9 official ticketing partners?

shocking,,when there has been a big game and i cant get tickets ive used livefootytickets, never had a problem, yes inflated prices and a booking fee, i looked a few weeks back for cup final prices and cheapest were around £170 plus a booking fee of around £50 so the final price was £250-£270, no doubt there more expensive now being on Sat, so if your going to do this go with the above and check everything in your basket before hitting submit, im not to sure how it works but i think there are x amount of tickets available and these sites are selling the same tickets as other simlar sites, some sites having a sister company which are asking for 5 times more than the original vendor

One thing I would say - doesn’t help the cost - make sure you get there fairly early. There are not enough seats in “taphouse” for people. If you get there early enough you can get a little table for the pair of you. Otherwise you will either be sharing a table or worse - standing up and getting even more pissed off at the price.

Hope the club carry some weight but I doubt they give a shit. Brothers in arms wont want to rock the £ boat.
What about the media, embarass City in their choice of company they keep?

As Rik says come on here when doing a game in Manc using this thread and sure Blues will help.

Some are a bit less expensive. £193 including fee. Level 5. Prob a £50 ticket.

What is more annoying with that site is that you can still get up to 8 seats together in lower tier and plenty of 5 seats together all over the ground.

From the OS

You can purchase official match tickets* and hospitality packages from these official sellers:
Any official or authorised reseller will clearly identify themselves with approved Club branding.

It's to easy for people to say more money than since because we've all been in and around football for decades.
But new match going fan's are getting robbed rotten.
At least dick turpin wore a mask.
Let's hope City win for your nephew and you both have a great day. CTID
