I rewatched the old Trafford Derby from earlier this season over the weekend (too much time on my hands). Stones didn't play and we weren't playing with anyone in the midfield role he started to take up a bit later in the season. The first half was as cagey as I remember, with chances only coming to the rags from City being uncharacteristically sloppy in possession and them hitting us on the counter.
In the second half we upped the tempo, were much the better team and deservedly took the lead. We all know what a shitshow their 'equaliser' was from the officials so no point revisiting that. We need to take our chances when they arrive and make sure we don't gift them an easy opening. They're a glorified long ball team, but it can be effective on the counter.
If we can replicate anything like our performances in the big games this season we will have too much for them and if we take a significant lead they may well collapse, as they did at the Etihad and anfield.
