he played advantage, he had absolutely no reason to blow up, one second after the foul United were clean through.

Firstly, he didn't wave advantage, so he either didn't think the first coming together was a foul (it was), or he missed it all together. Either of those scenarios I'm happy with.

What bothers me is that VAR chose to ignore the first offence. Given the way VAR has been 'selectively' implemented this season, I have zero confidence that the sending off wouldn't have been overturned at the other end because the referee missed the first offence.
