Yep. Look at Bournemouth vs Swansea the other night. There were "only" 24 places between them in the pyramid, yet Swansea got battered. If this stays as it is, it's a freak result. Moreso given the stats. Play that game again next week and it'd end up like you said. Let's be honest; before the game, it looked very unappealing as a way to pass a couple of hours.
