FA Cup Games | 5th Round | 28th Feb-3rd Mar '25

Bournemouth v Wolves

Seeing Traores penalty in the shoot out... he hit the bar, ball bounced down, hit Keppler (sp) and bounced out - no goal.

In a shoot out, if that ball, after hitting the bar and travelling away from goal, hit Keppler and went in... would the goal stand?

Yeah I was wondering that too…

Yes
“The kick is completed when the ball stops moving, goes out of play, or the referee stops play for any offence; the kicker may not play the ball a second time”

Is that not the rules for "open play" as opposed to a shoot out? Not disagreeing with you at all BTW,
This is just a copy and paste but gives a good example of the question asked

A kick results in a goal scored for the kicking team if, having been touched once by the kicker, the ball crosses the goal line between the goal posts and under the crossbar, without touching any player, official, or outside agent other than the defending goalkeeper. The ball may touch the goalkeeper, goal posts, or crossbar any number of times before going into the goal as long as the referee believes the ball's motion is the result of the initial kick. This was clarified after an incident in the 1986 World Cup shoot-out between Brazil and France . Bellones kick rebounded out off the post, hit goalkeeper Carlos's back, and subsequently bounced into the goal. Referee gave the goal to France, and the Brazil captain was booked for protesting that the kick should have been considered a miss as soon as it rebounded off the post. In 1987, the International Football Association Board clarified Law 14, covering penalty kicks, to support referee Igna's decision

I guess, if the rules have been applied correctly, it kind of answers the question in principle, courtesy of my mate google.

Cheers, clears that up.

Probably the 85th, to make it 4-1 to Fulham.

This needs to be a lengthy ban. Absolute shocker.

The discourse on this one compared to the Mane one is laughable and only purely because of who both players play(ed) for.

We all know the Millwall thug narrative and we all know the narrative for our dipper friends in the media.

With Ederson we got the ‘why is he trying to head the ball angle’ whilst Mane literally kung fu kicked the side of his skull leaving him needing stitches. Laughably to the point where the dippers booed Ederson for multiple seasons.

Now we've got the Millwall keeper and the angle is what a scum bag he is, how he should be banned for a long time etc…

Tonali, Isak and Joelinton back in for us today. Always struggle against Brighton though not confident at all. Howay lads!
A few weeks ago I would have said Newcastle will win this game, Not so sure today.

Newcastle last three performances have been far from convincing, Do you think it's with the Cup Final on the horizon? Players not wanting to get injured or just short on confidence?

Either way, Brighton are a very good team and it will be a difficult game. Big boost having Joelinton back he has nastiness in his game something Newcastle have missed.

Don't think it's the cup final really a combination of things affecting us with the overarching issue being inability to invest leaving us with a real lack of squad depth. Can't remember last time we were able to name all of our midfield 3 (tonali, Bruno G and Joelinton) plus Botman has been more out than in and those who step in are not of the same quality - that plus players who just lack quality (i.e. Murphy, Burn and this season Schar) mean that we will inevitably struggle for consistent performances. Still far improved on where we were and more often than not can't fault the players effort and think Eddie Howe is doing a fantastic job.
