Whille it wasn't particularly pleasant at the time, to be fair to the many fans involved, Joe wasn't just having a bad time, he was fucking terrible for quite a while.
Fans who felt sorry for him eventually lost patience with him. If he had a few games like that nowadays, he'd be moved on and you'd never hear of him again.
