FA Cup Quarter Finals

oh the faux outrage on this forum. I am (nearly) old enough to remember this

"There's some people on the pitch, they think it's all over, it is now"

The first pitch invasion whilst the game was still being played was stupid and the majority of the fans made that known the rest was just enjoyment having beaten a local rival to get to a semi final during a shit season.
City v Wigan (Play off semi final) small time ?

Even though I backed West Brom to win it, well done Villa. Hope they or one of the non premiership teams goes on to win it.

As for the comments about it only being a semi final, up until 5 years ago, we'd waited almost 30 years to win a quarter final.

and when we did we didn't risk the wrath of the fa by acting small time.

We had a pitch invasion when we beat Wigan in a tier 3 play-off semi final.
Ditto after the Birmingham game when we weren't even promoted. Then another a week later at Ewood Park.
It's happened twice in the last three years at our place.
As has been pointed out when Warrington Town do it, it's the magic of the cup. BBC never tire of showing that Ronnie Radford goal, complete with pitch invasion.
I don't remember any sanctions being imposed as a result of those events.

As long as the safety of fans, officials or players aren't compromised, I'm pretty ambivalent when it comes to pitch invasions.
It shouldn't happen, but in times of high emotion it does.

To suggest it's small time for celebrating a quarter final win over a local rival to book a trip to Wembley is not a route I'd prefer to go down myself.

Over here court or field invasions happen all the time in wins over rivals in college football/basketball. Doesn't happen in pro-sports though (there are barely any proper rivalries in American professional sports anyway).

I generally don't like how the game gets whitewashed, but I suppose there's safety issues at play here that might not be present in other sports.

and probably a few more I just can't remember off the top of my head.

we didn't win owt in any of these games.

Some quality wumming on this thread.

Fair fucks to Villa, the rags would rather have them in the semis than a team that would beat them, say Bradford.

this, but they'll run on the pitch pretending they really support the club when they were sat at home whining 2 months ago because they weren't winning.

part-time plastics, not even comparable to any City pitch invasion.
