FA Cup SF Draw | Nott'm Forest | Sun 27 April 16:30 | ITV1

The answer is very simple. The FA spent shedloads of money on the purchase and rebuild of Wembley. They want as much of this back and are not going to spend cash renting Old Trafford or Villa Park.

People waste their breath on this every year and it’s not going to happen. Do us all a favour and give this up.

Back in the day, Wembley cost money to rent so it made sense to hold semi-finals at the likes of Villa Park, Hillsborough, etc. Not any more.
Wembley bill was apparently paid back last year so no reason why semi finals cant be elsewhere

hampden park glasgow why not ?
Have you ever watched a match from there? It’s rubbish.

The East and West Stands behind the goals are miles from the action because of the ‘sort of’ running track. The sightlines are appalling because of inadequate rake.

The North Stand is OK if you don’t mind standing throughout. The South Stand Lower is very bleak and many of the seats have poor sightlines apart from the largely ‘corporate’ bit in the middle. The South Stand Upper is the only decent area to view in my opinion.

Yeah, reminded me a bit of the old Wembley in that respect, the angle of seating. I found the viewing experience decent, but then I was watching athletics there so we were obviously closer to what we were looking at than for footy.

FA Cup semi-finals should never be held at Wembley

As of 2024, The FA had fully repaid the debt associated with the construction of the new Wembley Stadium, which cost £757 million and opened in 2007.

SO WHY keep hosting the FA Cup semi-final there when 2 teams have to travel hundreds of miles

Probably because it’s the biggest ground in England and even then the vast majority of teams that reach the semis have far more fans who’d like to attend than tickets available.

Late kick offs might cause transport anxiety to a couple of dozen old timers who spend their spare time reading train timetables but most people take it in their stride

Younger people view later kickoffs as a bonus, they don’t have to get up so early, it’s a less stressful journey down, they have more time for drink / drugs etc
The FA cup semi final thread must be your favourite?

The M1 is open all night.

But a new stadium planned to be built in Trafford will be the biggest and bestest ever ….from what I’ve read!

Most of our seasoncard holders no longer live in Greater Manchester and a significant number now live in the South and South East. For those that travel from the North, a game at Wembley is expensive but I keenly anticipate them and look forward to FA Cup semi-final day every season. We're so lucky to have been to a Wembley semi-final 7 times in 7 seasons. That is perhaps Pep's finest achievement. It shows the level of success and dominance of the English game that City have enjoyed.

My train is booked. It's just 2 short hours. And at the end of it a familiar friend lies in wait with all those memories just like Maine Rd and and the Etihad. There's those familiar steps down Wembley Park Tube onto Wembley Way, and at the end the gigantic inner bowl of Wembley where the game will all unfold. I love the anticipation of this day.

Thank you Pep and City for taking us there yet again.

IMO we should have built it with Utd in Manchester city centre. Most of you will disagree but it would have been wonderful, and if now happens, and most likely it will, it will now belong entirely to Man Utd.

Fuck you on about Marvin. 'Most of our season card holders no longer live in Manchester'

Can you show me 1 piece of factual evidence that backs this claim up or even the North West please.
It's a piss take making people travel when we could use Villa Park, Anfield,Old trafford.
Wembley debt was paid off in full last year so give me one good reason why we are being dragged to Wembley again for a semi final?
Note-I will more than likeley be there as my kids are stating 'you know we are going dad'

Not a prayer you're from Manchester with sentiments like that, i wouldnt share the steam of my piss with that scum and neither would 99.9% of blues

What the actual fuck. Have you had a bang on the head because as another poster has said I wouldn't share the steam off my piss with those rag bastards yet here you are wanting to hop into bed with them? You are definiteley not a Mancunian..I'd say a rag imposter but you have been here to long for that.

There might be City fans tired of Wbley because we go at leat once a year at the moment somtimes 2 or 3 . Its not all about us though I know Forest fans and probably Villa too want a Wembley day out . Mainly so all that want to go or as many as possible can. Also the ones I know are looking forward to the day, they have no idea when their next chance of a Wembley day out will be if they lose, or even if they win the ones I know probably wont get final tickets.
Not everything should be seen through some Wembley weary City fans eyes.
