FA Cup SF | Liverpool | Sat 16 Apr 15:30 | Travel, Ticket & Pub Discussion

Was planning on going but just can’t justify it. £111 for mine and daughters season tickets came out last week as well as £50 for Atletico. Tickets for Wembley will set me back over £100 again for us both and then got to pay for travel to London. And then if we win do it all again. Having the semi at a Wembley is the FA taking the piss out of football fans.

Call me a part timer but we aren’t all loaded.

That’s why we are probably going to park up at Wealdstone and get the tube to Wembley. There’s also a social club in Harrow offering free coach parking.
Unfortunately all the club/FA coaches will park at Wembley, its going to be carnage like the United semi final ! Used to go by car and park up at Stanstead Station and get the tube to Wembley Park but don't want to drive through all that chaos !

What we have on here is a small but very noisy bunch of old timers who because they find it too inconvenient (can’t be bothered) to go to Wembley seem to be almost willing ticket sales to go poorly and hence validate in their eyes their rather disingenuous stance on money, the FA, train travel, traffic problems etc

How many posts have we had with people claiming we won’t get anywhere near selling out and risible scare stories about our end being awash with dippers or meek and mild blues being set upon by gangs of marauding scousers. Hasn’t happened before, won’t happen this time.

We’ll sell out, any dippers in our end will be dealt with, and result permitting everyone will have a great day out.

These same fans will then , from the comfort of their armchairs, set their sights on other oldies issues and be the first to moan on here after the game that they’re “embarrassed” that for the first few mins of the 2nd half our end looked empty and start having a pop at youths singing songs on the concourse and taking drugs (!!!!!!) rather than supporting the team blah blah blah
What a load of crap. Your first lines say so much about you.
The rest of your post is even worse.
Everyone is free to choose whether they go or not. Why posters are so keen to attack those not going is beyond me. Plus, why, when someone explains why he is not going he gets labelled a noisy old timer is beyond words.

You're not a part timer, you are a noisy old timer.

I doubt you could deal with your dinner.

Spot on plus not that many go by train compared to cars or coach travel, most I know only go by train in there making a weekend of it. So many making excuses cos they can, I'll be there so don't give a toss for them not bothered to make them effect. The next 2 weeks are things we could only ever of dreamed about back in the bad days. A lot of our fans need to give their heads a wobble !

I'm a 66 year old and have been to every cup semi final and final since 1972. Its not about age mate is about how much you care about your club. Two weeks till the game about 27k sold they're all be sold and this topic will become irrelevant like the posts on the new electronic ticket system !

But if you choose to take that many what do you think it would cost ? It's a simple choice if you can afford it it's your choice to go or not ! Back it the day when semi finals were played at club grounds the prices was extortionate compared to today's prices as the FA ripped you off because grounds held less fans. 1981 semi at Villa part to stand in the Holt end was more expensive pro rata than the 45 quid tickets at Wembley.
Cost of living has increased x 4 since 1981.
My standing ticket in Block L (Witton End ) Villa Park cost me £2.50.
So the 2022 price for a standing ticket should be £10.
Top flight football inflation has been beyond belief for the last 25 years!!

I’m not going because I have tickets for a gig that I booked last year, hotel booked etc. The point still stands that the novelty of Wembley has gone and repeatedly taking 34,000 to the other end of the country just isn’t going to keep happening, when it’s not even for a final. It’s just as well we didn’t draw Palace as we really would have struggled to sell out. City are unique as most clubs have that novelty value, are local to London or have a huge southern fan base to call on (United, Liverpool). I do seem to recall Chelsea failing to sell out against Southampton a few years back though and there wasn’t a peep from social media about it. It would be interesting to see how the likes of them, Arsenal, Tottenham etc would fare if they had to sell 34,000 tickets for a Manchester stadium 21 times in 10 years (I can’t think of any other club in history who have had that many Wembley visits). I think it would be the same hard sell as we are experiencing.
Exactly. I said the other day that if even the biggest London clubs had to go to Old Trafford for semi finals as regularity as we have to go to Wembley for them then no chance they’d always sell out 30k+ tickets. Chelsea couldn’t even sell out an allocation of 15,000 tickets for the Comnunity Shield against us at Villa Park in 2012 and that’s not a dig at Chelsea as I do think they take good numbers away as a general rule of thumb.

I didn't make it about age !
I was replying to someone who has decided that everyone is going apart from vocal old timers who are desperate to moan about everything.
I think it is brilliant that families are going, some for the first time and some are taking their 75 year old dad.
