FA Cup SF | Liverpool | Sat 16 Apr 15:30 | Travel, Ticket & Pub Discussion

It was done as a one-off because both clubs were in London. Back then was a simpler time financially and common sense sometimes prevailed over financial commitments. It didn't give anybody "an idea" because it wasn't a new concept back then and the semis were played at neutral grounds.
i have no idea why it was done, but it was, full stop.I have never ever forgotten it through my alcoholic years. My hatred of tott probably has something to do with it,but i know.like everyone else at the time,it was a special privilige to accomodate them and arsenal fans.

a bit like now.

whereby, the FA could show some empathy, for northern peoples time and more importantly money worries.
but they wont,so fuck them ,I'm out

as I remember it, it was straight after the live semi final draw on the bbc, and trevor brooking said this game is so big it has to be played at wembley because of the demand for tickets,...and the rest is history
they're special and have to be given priviliges, unlike us shite.

It isn't about manning up, there is a nationwide apathy towards football creeping in as the fans are sidelined and concerns ignored over and over, short notice of fixture changes, fixture days and times, hightened costs of travel and lack of forward planning by the FA, Prem and EFL.

Calling all fans to boycott is a viable way of thlelling the FA you are being cunts, unfortunately unlike seen in other european leagues when fans have shared concerns we stay tribal or call people mard cunts.

If a call for a boycott from both fans to protest the fuck up of not moving the semi up north nowt wrong with that, as it is I am going down in a car with 4 mates, but playing at wembley is an unecessary fuck up and atuborness fans should protest.

Anyone not going because they are scared of mither from scousers though are soft and need to man up I will give you that.
Apathy is spread by those who are apathetic. I accept we are all different but I am an FOC nothing could ever dampen my enthusiasm for Manchester City. I’ve survived decades of Swales, years of Lee, the shite of Ball, Coppell, Clarke, Pearce etc, the decades of out performance from the rags, and can only see that what we have now is beyond my wildest pre 2008 dreams. I agree that semi finals shouldn’t be at Wembley and particularly that weekend, but it is what it is, times change and not all for the better. But if we have a mass boycott of the semi final it’s our team that suffers, the dippers will sell all their tickets due to their worldwide fan base (they could probably sell out in Norway), so why would we want our team to suffer due to a City fans boycott? And as much as Pep gets us most of the time, he would hardly be more likely to sign up for a few more years if he sees swathes of empty seats at an fa cup semi final. Nobody will see it as laudable, it will just be seen as apathy and a can’t be arsed fan base. I’ll be there come what may, my kids will be and you will be; if loads of Blues really want to protest with their absence I’d personally advocate protesting whilst there. The way we still boo the uefa anthem, just as an example, is properly laudable, and until uefa stop being cunts (“not in my lifetime” I suspect) long may such protests continue

I remember a little match in 99
OMG. Possibly the most important match in the clubs history. Blame an old man's memory. Couldn't get a ticket, no excuse as I lived every second watching it at my sisters with my rag brother in law.

Having once traveled to the capital on a smegabus that got stuck in a traffic jam, I would rather walk than do that again ;-)
I remember travelling Home on a Transline coach from Rinteln in Germany. It was my first posting after finishing basic training. Wanted to go home for Easter. As a Private soldier it was all I could afford. It took 24 hours to get to Manchester!!!!!!. I swore never to do it again.

Hamburg to Harwich train to Euston and then home, it took an age.

If for some awful reason we become average/poor again. Everyone moaning about trips to Wembley will be missing them!
We have played there 19 times in 10 years (one more than united, but whose counting)
Embrace it!
