FA Cup - time to give guys a rest.

Remember Brighton and the end of our participation in the Carling Cup???????????????

Do you want this to happen again in the FA Cup?????????

The game isn't for another 6 days man - how much rest do you think the players need????????

You're barmy!!!!!

I think it's likely that we will field a strong side. I expect SWP and Robinho (and/or maybe Ireland) will be on the bench though. Probably Sturridge will start, but I think it'll be pretty much a 1st ish eleven. We can't afford to take it lightly, especially after the Brighton fiasco, and it is anyway our best chance to actually win something this season.

Bear in Mind though it has been a pretty light Christmas this year only 2 games over the Holiday and a close away game, I'm sure that will be a factor.

Good point, and it is a factor. But prior to that, it was our heaviest 1st half of season in years. 10 UEFA cup games with a small squad & injuries is tough. Still got players carrying knocks who have to play every week in the league. I'm saying give them a rest and beat Forest anyway.

Thanks for your compliment. Yes I remember Brighton. I think some players need a game off. We can beat Forest without them. If you are familiar with the modern game, this is what Premier League teams do now. They prioritise one competition above another. This weekend's Cup games will be watched in half-empty stadiums - that is now the status of the FA Cup, and it's our 3rd priority IMO.

If the game was sooner I'd agree with you (and definitely rest SWP - he looked jaded today), but we haven't got another prem game for what? 2 weeks?

Get a few goals up against Forest and then bring off thee main(e)men - Rob, Stevie SWP or Vinnie

Surely it's time to make changes this weekend. After a couple of decent results, we need to keep the league run going. Also, the UEFA cup will soon come around, and it will get hectic. I think Robinho, SWP, Ireland, Kompany, Zabaletta should be rested this weekend and maybe others too. The guys have played 10 extra games in Europe this season, give them a rest, this competition is the least important IMO.

No point resting Ireland, as he can have his enforced rest against Portsmouth, and hopefully we might have a couple of new faces for the Forest game to freshen the squad up with a bit of luck.

Can't see the FA being able to move that fast, myself.

Personally I'd go half and half, maybe keep 5 'first 11' even players out, if possible. I dont think TBH is going to see much first team action for a while, he's reported to be very much in the bad books for a terrible performance in Spain. Glauber, maybe? Could be the right game for him to come in?

Hart
Zabba Dunne Glauber Garrido
Hamann Fernandes
Vass Elano Sturridge
Felipao

You've also got the option of chucking in representation from the next batch of youngsters. Vlad Weiss on the right wing, anyone? Could be a better option than Vass there, and the jump from reserves level to Forest at home in the cup is probably much less hard than against PL opposition. Mixed bench containing first teamers and the likes of Shaleum Logan and Paul Marshall, if they're about?
