I have just been told that 7 of them have now been released and the ones who are still here
have been told that they will have very limited first team chances as they will be behinnd
"world class players" at least 2 in each position.
Apparently MH is no big fan of youth development and the contracts he has offered the
remaining players are non negotiable.
Also when they broke for the end of season Sturridge went to each of the players to say goodbye.

Not groundbreaking news I know but all very true and unfortunately I cant give out a source

Players have to leave to make way for the younger players behind them I don't belive that Hughes is not interested in our Youth policy and it was the First thing our new owners invested in.
It's just a fact m8 the bar has been raised and less will reach it good luck to all released.

I don't have a problem with it anyway I'm just stating facts

Very disappointing if true. We don't want to go the way of Chelsea, who have a sky-rocketing/completely unsustainable wage bill and no sign of any young players coming through the ranks

Some people forget we have most youth team players in the team than anyone else in the prem inc bench nobody gives youth a chance like we do.

We want the best players in the City team, if we've bought them great, if we've developed them ourselves, great. Personally I don't care either way. If our youth players are good enough to play for City then they will do, if they don't make the grade then they'll be released/sold, that's the way it should be. Out of a squad of, what, 16 or 17 youth players, what are the odds on getting any more than 2 or 3 that are top, top quality? We need players that can handle title challenges, Champion's League football etc. Sturridge and Weiss have already started to break through (albeit Sturridge is now being allowed to leave, I doubt that's based on his ability), maybe another might, but that's not a bad ratio to be fair.

Not interested in youth system? 15 year old goalkeeper from Shalke and that 16 year old Nils Zander (Ned Flanders) were signed not too long ago...

Hughes, dismantled the youth team at Blackburn(that had got to the final of the Youth Cup a couple of years before he took over), clearly with the incoming money and our current managers track record there will be fewer and fewer chances for our youth team to break through.

I'm no fan of Hughes but a couple of points:

1. His job is on the line this season so there's no way he's going to gamble with blooding academy graduates for the sake of it, they have to be good enough.

2. As regards the owners vision, it's clear that they want an academy modelled on Arsenal's, with the best youngsters from around Europe being snapped up at 16. In the short term we have to play catch-up with the "big 4" so we have no choice but to spend big for the first 3-4 years until the quality youngsters start to come through. That's why IMO the owners talk about us being self-sufficient in the long term, we'll produce enough first team talent from the Academy that we don't have to spend beyond our means every summer.

If he is no fan of youth development, how come he has his own signed up with us!!!!? And if seven have been released it's because they are obviously not good enough. I saw that youth team play and a lot of them looked ordinary individuals, at best!

How can Hughes not be a fan of youth development when he has own son on City's books!!!?
And if seven members of that youth team have been released - there's a reason for that - they're not good enough. I saw that team play, in my opinion a lot of them were average, at best.

Just because players might be useful in the youth side doesn't mean they will be top grade players most clubs do this. There are more players coming through we cant keep all of them or we would end up with a ridiclous number of squad players. The ones that might have a future will no doubt stay.

I'm not blaming him at all, in fact, I think the 1st point is very valid, unlike many managers he really didn't have any "free" games this year, his job was pretty much on the line until after the Spurs game(it's telling that for the final game he did give a couple of run outs).
