Fabian Delph is a very good player. I won't be popular but he's a better player than Milner. More intelligent, better passing and better decision making. Don't get me wrong, Milner was great a what he did, and we will miss him.
I think people are grossly under rating this guy.
He used to struggle with bookings, he seems to have sorted that. To me, he's a more defensive minded Fernandinho, covers the ground quickly, breaks up play and does it very well. No mug going forwards either.
When Villa beat Chelsea he scored a great goal, but the eye catching thing was, he totally dominated their midfielder with his endless running and bite.
I see him becoming a player very much like Barry. Rated highly by those that play with or watch him week in week out. Ignored by those that don't.
If we get the best out of him, he can have the bite and solidity of De Jong and the running power, technique and passing of Fernandinho.
At £8 million he's a bargain. Haven't Watford just paid that for a Spurs reject? Aren't United paying four times that for the lad from Southampton?
Don't get me wrong, we do need an additional midfielder also. Obviously Pogba is the dream, but I'm sure the club know what they're doing.
