This must be the first time a player has rejected us because he felt we were too good for him?!

By all accounts it had all been agreed yesterday and he must have thought it all through so for him to have changed his mind so late is more than a little odd.

My hunch is that someone from within the England setup had a word to dissuade him from coming, told him that if he stayed at Villa he was nailed on for the Euros and if he would jeopardise that by signing for us.

It's shame as I think he'd have been a good signing for us. Fernandinho is now the wrong side of 30 and the other Fern is garbage so it's clearly an area that needs addressing.

Good post..

If your hunch is correct that person will have a lot to answer for if Fernando features in our midfield next season and we win some major silverware..

The lad will regret it what ever happens and i reckon his head will be in bits right now..

Signing for a top Prem club is the dream of every English player, Delph had the opportunity in his hands and has thrown it away, probabily through someone putting doubts in his head..

Silly lad.

I wouldn't be surprised if Delph has a change of heart and still signs for us before the end of the window.

Obviously no one knows the reason he had a change of heart but all I've seen in the last two days is the video of him stating he's loyal and isn't like other players that he posted after signing his new deal. I believe he's decided to stay true to what he said there and didn't want the aggro for the rest of his career being called a mercenary. He basically can't go back again on his word now it would be so much worse for him than if he signed today.

Great career for England getting knocked out in the group stages or fighting for trophies with City? A bizarre decision I think.

if he did shit out, then we have dodged a bullet, you cant be a shithouse and play for Manchester city, the guy obviously hasn't got any ambition and if that is in his character then what England manager would take him to a big tournament ,I certainly wouldn't

I don't think Delph is "world class", but I felt he could do a job for us. The cost and his homegrown status were the cherries on top. That said, I'm a little disappointed in his decision not to sign with us
