I honestly don't like this outcome. Don't get me wrong I want the player, just thought he should have been buy last summer. And we should have kept out backup LB (Spanish kid who moved to Lazio).
Kolarov is a good player, but not the right fit. And I think too many were enamored with his shooting ability, which is phenomenal and would come to bare once he settles. But Coentrao would have been such a better fit.
It is similar to the Milner purchase, another terrific player who is a poor fit. We can't just buy simply because a player is good. Some players are just better fits for what you want to do.
Coentrao, Ansaldi, Pastore, Hummels, Rodwell, Mata, Modric, Bender, Goetze, Sahin...These are likely good fits
Zapata, Sanchez, Hazzard, Ibrahimovic, Elia, Henderson, Cardozo... These are likely poor fits.
We have to get the right types of players, and stop accumulating talent just for the sake of it.
