Fabregas

If he wanted to stay in the PL, he'd stay at Arsenal. He has way too much respect for Arsenal FC and Arsene Wenger to leave for another PL side. 0% chance he comes to City, please just forget about signing Cesc, it really is embarrassing.

Has that much respect , even though he trys to fuck off to Barca every summer.

Don't think he'll come to City, but that's not out of respect to Arsenal. As TFS says, he has little respect for them by angling for a move to Barca every summer.

he might come here
apologise if already posted

The only way I see Fabregas leaving Arsenal being good for City (apart from making Arsenal worse) is if Barca have to sell to buy.

Believing we will sign Cesc is almost as deluded as those people who believe we could sign Iniesta. Everyone knows where his heart lies, it wouldnt be a pull for him to come here now that we are building and improving with more of a chance of winning trophys. I don't see any of that mattering to him unless he is winning back with 'his' team, and in the mean time he will stick where he has been sticking until he gets that oppurtunity to go back to Barca.

zero chance. why come here??

if he stays in England he'll just stay at Arsenal. It's Arsenal or Barca for Fabs, not even considering him really. They are just using us for leverage because we are one of the few that can afford him.

Yeah, looks that way. Probably due to what Mancini said about Fab and the papers putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5.

We need to use our position to bully teams to get what we want.

Barca want Fabregas and Fabregas wants Barca. Not doubt about it. So Barca want to get him at a price that is realistic to them. Now if we get involved we can price Barca out of the market. If they offer £30m then Arsenal cannot accept that if we have offered £40m.

So if we did this and Fabregas stays at Arsenal no one gets what they want - Arsenal have an unhappy player who could affectively ride out his contract until he goes on a free, Barca have no player, City neither.

But if we tell Barca we want one of their players in exchange for a hefty fee and us not getting involved in their dealings everyone gets what they want.

Now if this player was Xavi Iniesta or Messi I suspect Barca would just say they were better off with them players and no Fabregas. However for some of the others its a possibility surely. One player I think we could use this tactic to get is Villa. Played out of position on the left (which he may like Im not sure) and out of form towards the end of the season (bar the final). If Tevez goes he could be a great foil for Dzeko.

We get a world class replacement for Tevez who would compliment our team, Arsenal are weaker and Barca have inevitably got their man.

.

the two usual reasons : more money & more chances of trophy

I am pretty sure he will get plenty of money wherever he goes. There will be more chances to win trophies at Barce than there is here. At least in the short term anyway.

i cant see him coming here, i think its Barca or nothing. hope we get him though.

But there is nothing to stop Arsenal taking the £30m. I stand to be corrected but they can accept any offer they receive, not just the highest.

They could - but why would they. Do they care where he goes if it stood to make them an additional 25% than anyone else is offering. You have to be accountable to your shareholders and how would you explain refusing £10m??

didn't arsenal turn down 35m from barca last summer ?

1 year further through his contract, not the best of seasons, Arsenal may be more willing to sell as now cant keep hold of an uphappy player, Wilshere a year further along, Ramsey back, maybe identified another player to replace him with, different market factors all over the show

True enough - but who's place would he take?
If Fabregas goes to Barca he'll most probably be a bench warmer for a while.
Not saying he'd come to us, but would he be happy with that?

agreed. I think he stayed his one last year with Arsenal as per private negotiations with Wenger. I'd be really surprised if he stays on another year and it's sold to Barca.
