Muamba says player has spoken 'minimal words' after cardiac arrest
The Associated Press Mar 19, 2012 13:39:00 PM

LONDON - A friend of Fabrice Muamba has told The Associated Press that the Bolton midfielder has started speaking again, two days after his cardiac arrest during a match.

Curtis Codrington has been visiting Muamba in intensive care since the player collapsed during Saturday's match at Tottenham.

After speaking to Muamba's family on Monday, Codrington told the AP that his friend has spoken "minimal words in English and French, which is better than nothing."

Earlier, the hospital said that Muamba has begun to show "small signs of improvement" as his heart started beating without the help of medication on Monday.

But while also announcing that Muamba's arms and legs were moving, a statement stressed that he remained in critical condition.

Anyone taking a supportive banner/flag/message for him on Wednesday? Noticed quite a few fans of other clubs have and it'd be a nice gesture.

Why not do a Gary Speed like tribute, hopefully different circumstances obviously, but i mean like when it's the 6th minute start chanting his name?

I'm off work the next couple of days - if anyone knows where we can get something bigger done for East Lower for Wednesday then shout out.

Has anyone been to Bolton and put any flowers down with a city scarf? If not I may go later on. It's amazing if he has spoken and come round! Fingers crossed!
