Liverpool "looking" at a bid from City or so they say..Apparently we are the highest bidder so far then.

Not very keen on Suarez myself..

Where have you seen that?

I've said many times on this forum how Suarez is a world class player and would hugely improve our team, he might even score over 30 goals, but he's not close to being a clinical finisher. Like Aguero he bags probably 1 every 4 good chances.

Indykaila have been running the story for a week now, I joked with him and said that his source had mistaken Cavani for Suarez.

Indykaila is worse than Guillem Balague

I agree. Particularly earlier in the season, I watched Liverpool a lot and spent most of the time wondering how he's a striker as he missed 5 or 6 great chances. Of course, then he'd score an amazing goal from outside the box and I'd look like an idiot. But yeah, very similar to Aguero and not as good or professional.

I read that

Isn't that tapping up?

So we know what's going to happen now. Real Madrid will drag this out all Summer and force Liverpool to accept a lower bid.

Even without him they've got a decent team. Coutinho, Sturridge, Henderson, Glen Johnson, Agger, Enrique, Gerrard. Good players

All of them are good players at premier league level but no better than that (minus Henderson who is average) none are world class (gerrard not the player he was). I guarantee you if they sell Suarez they won't finish top 4 in the next 2 seasons at the very least & it would shock me massively if they finished 6th.

How many would get into Chelsea, City and United sides, there lays the problem. They have to keep Suarez and the must buy quality. If I was a kopite I'd be scathing over JWHenry&co, money ball was basically one window which was spent terribly. Since then it's been shopping for the cast offs from top clubs, home and abroad.

The thing is though Coutinho plays better with out Suarez in the team as he gets to play behind Sturridge rather than being pushed out to the left.
Don't matter how good he is if he keeps getting lengthy bans. Wouldn't the ban also be carried over to La Liga as was the case with Joey Barton.

@GuillemBalague: Luis Suarez: "It is not true I have an agreement with Real Madrid. I am thinking about my future but I haven't decided anything yet"

@GuillemBalague: ...which means: it is not sure Luis Suarez will stay at Liverpool or that he is going (or not) to Madrid. Worrying to LFC fans though

SUAREZ..HAS MESSI TYPE MAGIC IN HIS BOOTS AND IS YOUNGER WITH TOP CLASS PREMIERSHIP EXPERIENCE THAT EVERY TEAM IN THR WORLD WOULD WANT

Yep tapping up for me! The agent has negotiated the deal on Suarez behalf and knowledge

Hmm that's interesting. It is likely he will leave then. Spanish media will be just as ruthless as the British towards him though. Worrying for Liverpool fans, but they can strengthen with the money from him surely?

In my opinion, because Madrid look like the are putting most of their kitty in for Bale, they are looking so unlikely for Cavani as his 60m Euro buyout is clearly too costly.

City and Chelsea can offer player + cash deals which help both parties, and with Higuain looking likely going to Juventus, are Madrid really going to flog Benzema as well? Would he be put in as a cash + player offer to Napoli?

That's why I think they are after Suarez, a player who can replace Higuain and will cost them around 40m Euros, at least 15-20m Euros cheaper than Cavani anwyay.

I suppose that quesion should be asked: Is Cavani really worth 15-20m Euros more than Suarez? I don't think so.

Real's up front next season for me will be:

-Suarez/ Benzema-
Ronaldo - Ozil - Bale

To be fair, "Moneyball" doesn't mean spending outrageous sums of money to secure the best players. It's actually exactly the opposite- It means identifying market inefficiencies and exploiting them to secure players who are more valuable than the market indicates. So the Downing/Carroll/Henderson purchases were as anti-Moneyball as one can get, really.

Not entirely true. Moneyball supports the idea of overpaying to fill an immediate need. Carroll falls into a moneyball category of signing I think (I'm sure I've heard Commoli say this is the case).

A good example of why moneyball is probably better left at the baseball.

Exact opposite tbf

Say Liverpool sold Suarez and thus needed to replace his 30 goals last season. They'd look for say 3 players who directly contributed to 10 goals, at least, to their team last season. For example, not necessarily 10 goals each but 8 goals and 2 assists.

Moneyball aims to find players undervalued by the common market. A 30 goal a season striker could go for as much as £30-50m these days.

Whereas players like Arouna Kone, who contributed to 20 goals for Wigan last season with 13 goals and 7 assists, cost them little over £3million. He scored 17 goals and set up 4 the season he left for £3million as well

But you're right when you say it should be left in baseball
