Best show there ever is/will be in my opinion

Aye, it's not often I'll watch anything more than once, in fact I could probably count on one hand the things I have, 'The Wire' ? I've watched five times :-).

Cheers for the link bud (oh it has spoilers in it for those that haven't seen it).

I once said it was just an up to date version of Hill Street Blues. I was talking shite. One of the best TV series I've ever watched.

I still think David Simon's early series ' Homicide Life on the Street' is up there with the Wire - Ok loses out because it was made a lot earlier, but still great drama and great issues.......

Can't choose between The Wire and The Sopranos.
Wire has amazing story lines all the way through and really goes right into the world in which it takes place.
Sopranos sometimes has dodgy writing - introducing new important characters Tony's cousin, Phil Leotardo, etc with long backstory is lazy - and poor plotting, but the best characters are so brilliantly filled out. Compare McNulty, who even by the end of 5 seasons is basically still a self destructive pisshead cop who's married to the job, (i.e. a crime drama cliche), with Tony Soprano whose whole life and psychology have been on screen.
