Fans missing 20/30 minutes of the match

Some big lump of a steward barged into me and said I shouldn't have been standing in the aisle, I said fair enough but an 'excuse me' would have been a preferred option. He just loooked at me as if he couldn't understand words of more than one syllable.

nothing new here. some city fans near me miss a good 20-25 minutes of most home games by going to the bar 5 minutes before half time, returning 5 minutes after the 2nd half has started & then going home 10-15 minutes before the final whistle.

Matter of choice is the difference.

I thought the steward outside turnstile M conducted himself in an excellent fashion. There wer plenty of blues mouthing off at all and sundry and he kept calm and polite.

On the flipside, I saw a young female steward in the stand at the front of the tunnel in block 125 behave disgracefully. I don't know what she'd seen but she briefly lost her rag at a blue up the stand and started shouting "You fucking twat...." and all this before she caught hold of herself, laughed at her colleague and went off.

Can't say I blame blues for MOUTHING OFF .....especially under the circumstances. The steward outside M was a nice fella but the organisation etc was a complete balls up.

Didn't get into the stadium till 20 minutes after kick off. Discrase. What makes it worse is the organisation, their idea of it is telling everyone to get closer to the wall!

Said exactly the same earlier in the thread, I thought he was very good, he was trying to organise access to all 6 turnstiles, and was trying to make sure the kids were safe.

Received a letter of apology from Liverpool FC today. As mentioned in earlier post they phoned me last Monday and said I could expect a letter following a meeting on Thursday.

As with the phone call I was impressed by the content of the letter, their honesty over the situation and the fact they did apologise. How many people, companies, establishments will do that these days. They all fear they will be sued if they admit they were wrong in any way.

They didn't go as far as offering me any compensation for three of us missing nearly a third of the game but to be honest I didn't expect they would.

Two key things they did say were:
1) The Police at the ground made a direct enquiry to the Police Motorway unit to check if there were any reasons for the numbers at the ground being low. The Motorway Police did not advise them of any incidents delaying fans coming from Manchester.

(I've read elsewhere that the major accident on the M62 happened about 5.35pm so cannot understand why the Motorway Police did not give the right advice).

2) They searched fans at the turnstiles because of the risk of fans taking in fireworks. They said they stopped searching to speed up access but this was the original reason they had carried on. This risk also affected the way they deployed Horses in the area. They quoted the evidence of fireworks being set off at the league game back in November and on the night of the cup game.

Some will say they are making excuses re the fireworks but I back them on that. The idiots who think it's clever to take in and set off fireworks need banning. I'm sure anyone who was near that one at Everton will agree.

Ok I didn't get any money back, I'm still annoyed I got in the game late and I am still not happy about other things. But I do accept their apology and I'll say again that I have been impressed by the way they have responded to me.

Just got back.
Was outside the ground for 7.30pm. Big queues as you'd expect, but the stewards and the police were disgraceful.
I was there with my 11-year-old son and he was scared as they having a go at the City fans.
Mounted police were pushing people against the wall and not letting fans in. Announcment went up you could use any turnstile, but then stewards were telling people they'd come to the wrong area!!!

Wankers

I'm still waiting to hear back....hopefully I'll receive my letter of explanation and apology in the next day or two....

Fair enough with on the search front, if a firework had gone off from our end and seriously hurt someone, they'd have far more complaints, and not just from the City fans!

Motorway Police need to some themselves out if that was the case - not good enough!

Anyway, glad you got an apology! Shame they couldn't have given you a refund for at least one ticket though!!

*edit* - received my letter this morning - pretty much on the same lines as yours, Robsta - although I'm sure they got a pupil from their local Primary School to type it!!!!!

a firework was definitely set off from our end in the league game back in november.

just saying.
