He could also play a bit, just look at his goalscoring record.
His management ability cannot be doubted. The success he brought to teams with the funds at his disposal was unreal
He brought this country its first million pound player in Trevor Francis, so they weren't exactly skint. But generally speaking I'd agree with you, they certainly didn't have the kind of money at Liverpool's disposal. Still, love Clough, an absolute dream of a manager...

Only when paired with Taylor. Proof that a partnership/team can be greater than the sum of its parts.
Good point, Leeds being a prime example.

top manager who should of been englamd manager but the fa was petrified of him has it was his way or no way always remember clougie for giving the fans who ran on the pitch a clip round the ear hole never be anyone like him again

A true great of the game, huge fuck up
By the FA not to give the the national side, not many managers in history commanded the respect he did, reports at the time were scared shitless of him :-)

Proper gentleman. I was playing at Leeds Utd as a 16 yr old, and was one of the lads assigned to his dressing room after the match. We were picking up various amounts of crap (ankle wrap, towels, etc...) while they were showering and getting changed for the ride home.

I was walking around the dressing room picking stuff up when one of the players threw at towel at/towards me on the ground. Cloughie steps forward and tells the player (in no uncertain terms) to get down off his perch (he was stood on the bench surrounding the walls of the dressing room) and to pick up the towel! Dressed him up and down about being respectful of the young men (young apprentice professionals) provided by Leeds to help make their dressing room more comfortable for them!

I was nobody, the player was somebody, and Cloughie was The Man, but he made me feel respected by him and made the player respect what I was willing to do in furtherance of my career. You have to RESPECT a man who treats you (a nobody from the other team’s youth ranks) so well when nobody is watching.

It is a travesty that he was not England manager, but then foresight and innovation were never F.A. strong suits!!!

Dippers denied him more European glory.

I'm convinced had have led Forest to a couple of UEFA Cups too.

I think he had a nasty streak too, but what you've posted there doesn't surprise me. Great post too.
