Fantastic social experiment.

Probably comes down the american news channels scare mongering about the big bad black man for years

Although it does prove a point doesn't it matter who is walking by too? Once a couple of people stop it makes everyone else a lot braver to do the same as well

But... people did stop! Except some felt threatened and some, clearly, didn't.

I will let you figure out which.

I said it proves a point and a good one but I think it also shows gang mentality along with it

Nah, not on this one. It was purely racial prejudice as far as I could see.

Is there any evidence yet to show that the people in this video were not actors?

A good comment above about how the media love using scaremongering tactics to engage their audience. Many times over the years the Black man has been this.

Freely leaving the good, well behaved white man to walk into schools and blow kids heads off.

The country is fucked up and is way too obsessed with appearance.
Shows their naiveness really...

Not just an American thing as I said this happens all the time and I am a well dressed educated black male. Just today a elderly female client complained to my manager that I "intimidated her and was aggressive". Fortunately for me when I was speaking to her other people were around who vouched for me and rubbished her complaint.

Certain people have a view of black people that will not change and accepting that many people are racist even in small ways is just honest. This is also to do with the fact that the MAJORITY of white people rarely interact in social environments with blacks. This results in them getting opinions from the media which rarely portrays blacks in a positive light. In movies we are usually the criminal or the thug and music does not help this with rappers again spreading a distorted view of what we are really like.

If people actually had black friends and socialised more they would realise we are very much alike except we are better dancers:)

I see no-one has yet suggested that the irate old git should be arrested for attempting to steal the black kids bag full of tools.

It would have been a good experiment if they dyed the blonde girl's hair black (or gave her a wig) and made her dress in scruffy clothes or a onesie and Ugg boots with a fag hanging out of the corner of her mouth.

Not my brother! He's the worst dancer I have ever witnessed of any race!! ANY!!

You also forget that our recent movie portrayals has the leader of the free world as Black when the world is about to end! And it's only recently that Black people are not the first to be killed off or run away from danger, in films.

Yay.

Do you mean in addition to what that clip showed?? Cos you would have to change the landscape so that everyone was equal in looks and dress.

That was the point; a level playing field.

They had black male vs white male, white male vs white female. A black female would have completed the picture. I thought it was about how people perceive others, my control is that it's the same girl, affluent looking vs underprivileged looking. Do it in that park and in a park in a less affluent neighbourhood.

My guess is that in the less affluent park there would be fewer challenges of 'is that your bike'* but I couldn't guess if there would be more people discreetly taking photos or ringing the cops.

*Guess due to people minding their own business in general and feeling safe in their surroundings.

Difficult to answer your question when is clearly just a snippet. It could be from a programme or an American news items investigating social behaviour.
