Another bluemooner has been onto Peter Fletcher (he may have posted update on here somewhere) about the sitting standing issue, and the bottom line is Fletcher is willing to listen and doesn't see ejecting people as a workable option at the moment. So that's one victory.

However, a solution needs to be found to stop those nagging stewards ruining our matchday experience. Therefore, we need evidence.

So, if you sit in 109 and have an opinion (or sit in other areas and have an opinion) please complete this short survey, it'll take you 20 seconds:

I have seen these stewards try to grab people.

Can i just let all the 109ers know that what you are doing is creating a public order offence which stewards or security guards have no pwer of arrest. If they do put there hands on you ask for a police officer and make a complaint.

That'll stop these fuckin bullies.

Quite a good response so far, thanks to all that have done it up till now. However, need to keep this thread bumped so get as many people to complete it (ideally before 5th September when there is a meeting about this issue.)

I'm feeling we could all benefit from a steward bump.

wouldn't police then just arrest us for doing the "public order offense" ?

or issue with a fine or something?

Survey completed anyway.....

Not really. Seen the Showsec lot grab a few people. I remember in 118 the Showsec lot were giving a guy about 5 rows up a load of shit for not sitting down. The problem was that the 4 rows infront were stood in front of him and he was trying to explain this. Next thing. Ejected.

I used a public order offence loosely as im not 100% sure if it is covered under that, as that law seems to cover nearly everything, but if a steward puts a hand on you, its assault. Only the police can arrest you for a public order offence. If they were to go and get the police and the police asked the same thing, then thats a different story, but what the Showsec guards have been getting away with is nothing short of bullying tactics thinking the rest will listen.

Could they claim they are making a citizens arrest?

This would infuriate me beyond belief. How on earth can you expect people to sit when there's people standing on front of them? I've no training as a Steward yet it's just fucking obvious.

Folks, I'm the other bluemooner, who's been on to Peter Fletcher. He is willing to listen and acknowledges that trying to get people to sit down didn't work at the Swansea match, but the club need to understand who wants to sit and who wants to stand before they can even consider thinking about a solution.

So, please fill in Darryl's survey - it will provide us with valuable evidence.

Cheers

Nope. Its classed as Assault. They have no right to grab hold of anyone. Even the smokers. Ive seen some of those handled with arm up the back jobs. They aren't allowed to do that either.

Stewards can use reasonable force to eject people. Just like you in your own home if someone refused to leave, or bouncers in pubs etc.
