JFK is really a non starter as most of the flights form ORD come into either LGA or EWR. trust me mate you want to get an early flight in and out!!! I think LGA is quicker into the city (Manhattan) than EWR but EWR isnt that far away. From eith airport you can take a bus into the city. Unless you ahve 3 guys going with you to share a cab, then its probably the best bet.

Is the Hilton Garden Inn on the east or west side?? I think its the west side. If it is, then EWR is probably the better bet......

If you need some more insight into getting into/around the city, let me know. Just stay away form the 3 card monte dealers you Nebraskan hayseed you LOL!!!!
I've just booked our flights - OMA to MDW, MDW to LGA on the Friday morning, and then back again on the Monday. We're schedule to touch down at LGA on Friday at 12:55, so I should imagine that that leaves us plenty of time to get to our hotel, get settled there, and get down to the Hatter ahead of the game.

p.s.: Frank, if you're so obsessed with the whole Nebraska thing, why don't you move here yourself? It's gotta be loads cheaper to live here than where you are now, and the quicker you get here, the quicker we can start weaning you off of the ladyboys!

If flying into LGA from Chicago, early out is certainly the best advice--the terminal is barren of services...cab ride was about $30 from LGA to Broadway...and I know the Empire State Building was closer from the direction we came. The famous Nevada Smith's is a 12 block walk from the Mad Hatter. And if you intend to get a steak at Peter Luger's, its cash only. It is pricey and in Brooklyn, but I hope to go there on the trip.

Question for NEBlue1: Do you know what the letter "N" stands for on the Nebraska Cornhusker football helmet"

A: Knowledge

You know I am just busting balls about being a hick from Nebraska, right?? Why would I want a home there when I have one in NYC and one in Bangkok? Who has been telling you tall tales about Ladyboys in Thailand?? After you have conquered New York City you MUST come over for a visit to The Big Mango. You wouldnt be spot about half the chicks with dicks-LOL!!!

Since your digs are near TSquare you proabl wont have a whole hell of a lot fo time beofre making your way down to The Hatter for a couple then on to the game. It sounds like you are gonna have a great time. Stay close to Jonesie. The guy is a legend!!!

Heard it a thousand times, and it wasn't really that funny the first time! I actually hate the Huskers, though, so I'll give you a pass just this once.

Like I said before, though, we're scheduled to arrive at LGA just before 1, and Google Maps' public transport thingamabobber makes it sound fairly painless - if time-consuming - to at least get to my hotel. Is it worth taking a cab, though, in your experience?

I hope to make the Hatter my home base away from the hotel, but I'm with you on Nevada Smith's. With everything I've read and heard about it, I do want to make it over there at least once, probably on the Saturday. (No offense, Jonesie.) Not sure about steakhouses, though - We get plenty of that in Omaha!

Will or won't? I know I'm not scheduled to arrive until after noon, but I would've thought I'd still been okay on time so long as I get out of LGA in a reasonable (a relative term, I know) amount of time.

Hmmm let me see, where to begin..... Nevada Smiths is a fully decked out scum stronghold. It's a dark manky Rats nest with a khazi a Gyppo wouldnt take a dump in. Nevada Smiths has a Turd on the bar as an air freshener. Why any self respecting City fan would want to be seen dead in there is beyond me, especially in closed season. For you rubes who simply must go, PLEASE eat one of their Pies, and when you finally slide off the Toilet 3 days later, I'd like to show you a couple of Bridges and a big Park I have for sale. For those of you who would choose it over the Hat, eat 2 of those delectable pucks. Its exactly the same as choosing a prematch Pint in the Yew Tree to Mary D's. The Mad Hatter Saloon is the HOME of MCFC in New York City. We made it so after smiths took the piss one to many times and we said bollocks to it. Now you want to take them some Custom? A few names spring to mind, but City Fan aint one of them.

Got my tickets in for the Inter Milan game today, flight and hotel already booked so I'm all set. Can't wait!!!

Wow. Now then, tell us how you really feel about the place!

I think I'll take your word about it re Smith's. I'm curious now, though - What happened with you lot and them?
