Favourite comedian

Currently, the best stand up is Dylan Moran with Billy Connolly being the best ever I reckon. I also thought Eddie Izzard was excellent in this genre as was Eddie Murphy.

In film/tv I think Sascha baron Cohen is a genius, love Chevy chase and Paul Merton is razor sharp but the greatest comedian of them all for me is John Cleese for his role as Basil Fawlty, simply the funniest shit ever.

Anyone who thinks the Mighty Boosh is good comedy or revels in these alternative comics with their ironic humour is a young impressionable student, laughs at stuff they think they should laugh at and sometimes confuse satire with comedy.

There you have it, you know I'm right.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but actually you are wrong.
Comedy is subjective, therefore all opinions are equally valid, just like art.
Except mine,of course, which is always right...:)

Really like Mcintyre but he's becoming the bandwagoners favourite so i'd have to go with jason manford, a lot of his stuff is relatable being a manc and a blue and also sean lock. Has me in tears half the time.

I can see a row coming on here!!

Your opinion is of course valid but I honestly believe there's trendy forms of comedy which some people (normaly art student types) will latch onto. When I was a teenager it was shows like the 'Mary Whitehouse Experience' with the abominally awful David Baddiel and now it's crap like 'The Mighty Boosh' that is probably quoted en mass by the counter culture kids.

Nathan Barley was decent mind.......

That's true for me even though I'm only 30. I watched an episode of Bottom recently and wasn't nearly as amused as I was during my early teenage years.

That's the thing about Fawlty Towers, I love it just as much now. Basil and his dealings with Ze Germans, you just can't beat it.

Michael McIntyre, Lee Mack and Omid Djali are all good.

Watched Eddie Murphy Raw oon TV the other night, still piss funny after 20 years.

I like Frankie Boyle in Mock The Week but not his stand up.
